Slowfall anyone?

I find myself wanting a slowfall spell really bad sometimes. I just hate to hear my character in pain when I take fall damage, I really wish there was some kind of slowfall spell to help reduce time taken going down from large cliffs and mountainous terrain. I feel at least Wrothgar and parts of Glenumbra were made for it. Just to add some flavor to the game.

Further, I realize that levitation spells would be out of the question not only due to how the game was designed (think creative shortcuts), but also how keeps are held. That, however, does not make we want it any less though. That and levitation spells offend Mother Almalexia.

You can Slow Fall if you learn how to surf down cliffs.

First way is to drop from rock to rock to rock on the way down. Helps to Toggle Walk if your going to do this as a Run will end up making you go too far off the cliff. Also, learn to land on trees or other rock formations on the ground, this can cushion your fall and you can take little to no damage. Although, some rocks will treat your character like they were the ground.

Second way is to learn how to fall/slide down the cliff. This is trickier and requires some understanding of Mesh Clipping. But you can Surf/Slide down most cliffs and not take much if any fall damage.

The only cliffs I hurt myself on are the ones that have the concave walls that dip into the mountain. Such as the ones in Central Wrothgar
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

A "glide" spell would be kind of nice. Reminds me of one of the WoW abilities, along with running on water, and portals. Utility spells like that would be fun to have in the game. Once we get seamless zone transactions, and if we get portals, then I'll support the removal of wayshrines.

I agree with @Nestor. Every now and then I try to find paths most people wouldn't take into areas most people don't go. There is some really nice scenery in this game. I just wish the devs wouldn't put up invisible walls. Let me climb. Give me a mountain climber skill I can level up and climb places you can't just jump up. Or rappel down the cliffs.

As a result, I've can usually find a way to jump down (and sometimes up) cliffs or surf them (I know what mesh clipping is, but don't think of it in those terms) or recognize that won't work. I'm also getting pretty good at judging heights to know what I can survive.

That shout is the rush from free falling. ;)

I was hoping they'd make it a passive in a future update--'fall farther without taking damage' would have worked nicely with the Thieves' Guild, for example.

I'd also like to see Water Walk - I don't care if the Slaughterfish can still eat me, just stop making me get off my horse and slow to a crawl because that river was knee-deep instead of ankle deep. :s

I want fastfall so I can hit the bottom harder. For the low low cost of a single soul gem, you too can continue on your merry way after a glorious descent.

There is a quest in coldharbor where you jump off a ledge and are placed in a bubble and slowfall your way to safety.

That was my inspiration for this discussion. Perhaps it can be tied to a momento, instead of an ability?

Almost any semi-angled surface can be "surfed" down if you hit it right. I almost never die jumping off giant sea cliffs.

The good old scraping your face down the side of a cliff to land "safely" and make you look more appealing to orcs. Yes, I've done much of that.

Yes! Yes! This I can agree with. Would love to get an update on it from: @Wrobel, @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, @ZOS_RichLambert.

Ha! Beat me to it. Easily one of the most annoying design flaws in the game... It's like, "Oh, you want to jump on this mushroom? Well, go ahead and do that, but put on a pot of tea and make sure you're comfortable -- you'll be a while."
