Greetings,
I have been playing this game since Beta and I have been a big fan of the costumization ever since. The ability to craft forty-something styles, tones of special looks and character specialization. I just love how balanced the game is when it comes to combine fantasy with medieval realism. Concerning that, I am a big fan of all changes and progress made in the direction of further character cosmetic costumization and personality like the adoption of skins, separation of hats, facial accessories, body marks, facial hair etc. That's a huge thumbs up for me. However I believe that with relatively little effort there are some changes that could be done and would have a positive impact on the way people see and enjoy the game and in particular their characters.
Disclaimer: I have no idea if this proposals are indeed easy or if they are a hell of a nightmare to implement in the game. I asume some of this proposals have been taken in consideration already and have been dispatched due to lack of viability or interest.
My proposals for further cosmetic costumization and small tweaks.
1. Character Selection Menu - Change the order of the characters displayed.
Throughout the years people change their main character or play in multiple factions. It would be nice to be able to move up and down your characters to fit the needs of every player. I do not see any downsides to this change.
2. Character Selection Menu - Change the environment.
After two and a half years of playing The Elder Scrolls Online, I would really love to see anything different from the Alikr background of the Daggerfall Covenant. I am positive making it rotatory for each race or simply change as we change launcher or loading screen art every few patches would be refreshing.
3. Character Customization - Tabards.
In the same fashion we can use a tabard with any armour (although some clip), it would be nice to be able to use a tabard with Costumes. Often due to guild policies players are required to use a tabard and being able to do so with their preferred costume would definetely improve their character look.
4. Character Customization - Tabards.
There is probably a reason that I am not able to think off right now but... how are we still paying 2.000 gold per each tabard? It's a ridiculous amount of money and it goes nowhere, but wouldn't it be easier to make tabards a Collectible? I mean, under a new category (Guild Heraldry, for example) so tabards for all your guilds are listed there.
5. Character Cuatomization - More guild heraldry.
Players are growing more and more fund of their factions and guilds. The alliance hood, outfit and horse and their success are a proof of that. Making other guild-related collectibles would be very interesting. A Guild Hoodie would definetely be a great addition and a fantastic way of promoting your guild even further. I would say that to simplify the design it could be easy to make a simple hoodie with three colours (Crest, primary and secondary) and adopt the tabard. Maybe even provide guilds with a few designs to choose from in the same style we choose our guild tabard style. Models for this hoods could be taken from basic hoods already in the game like Light Breton Hat, Light Altmer Hat, Light Daedric and so on. This would be a huge step forward in character customization.
6. Character Customization - Weapons on the back.
Where does the bow go when you switch back to Dual Weild? Wouldn't it be cool to have visible your second weapon when on your first bar? I suggest that when you are in Bar 1, you can see your Bar 2 weapon sheathed and viceversa.
The only problems that this might cause are: clipping when weapons sheathed (both) and visual charge for the graphics side of things. Concerning these problems, I would add a toggle option in Settings - Gameplay the same way we have that for Helmet, Mount Upgraded and what not. If you do not wish to see your secondary weapon or you detect a clipping issue (for example, two shields or a shield and a staff) you may unactivate that toggle. This would also foster a lot player's ability to add more elements to their character look.
7. Character Costumization - Weapon Dyes.
Jesus christ is this annoying. Max tier weapons are bright red. That's so frustrating! We should be able to dye weapons, at least the blade and main chunck of the weapons!
8. Mounts - Heraldry
In the same design than the Alliance Warhorse we could fit a tabard like system for guild members to purchase. It would be very interesting to provide groups of players the chance to have their horses fully costumized with their own colours. This could be another toggle in the same settings location than the speed/carry/stamina upgrades.
This are my proposals. I would love to hear from other members of the comunity and your ideas to improve our experience in this game!
