Usually I can just walk into the fighter's guild and join easily by speaking to Aicessar...has he disappeared since One Tamriel? How can you join the Fighter's guild now?

It's ok - we worked it out - the player who was asking turned out to be from a different alliance, so he wasn't being sent to Auridon for the quest.
