Weapon Ability?

This may seem like a dumb question.. but I'm just wanting/needing clarification to what is meant by "weapon ability".. Red Mountain set.. 5th piece bonus.. What is considered a weapon ability, light attack, heavy attack or what?
"When you deal damage with a Weapon ability, you have a 10% chance to deal an additional 8400 Flame Damage. This effect can occur once every 2 seconds."
