Back in the days of hand written inter office memorandums, we had a standard memo form to use which had a reply section on it if we were expecting, or required, a response. Yes, I am old and started work before the internet existed, but a reply option was standard even then.
MMMhhhh... lemme see... how hard is it to take a pen, a paper, write down the ID of the person we're responding to, that would be 5-12 signs, and type them again ?
For the generation who understands fluently "speech" like /sudo apt get install g1 juggleflame @X0rXdaBest ... it should not be that impossible a task...

LOL !!!! How do you define "old" ? @ZOS_RichLambert is certainly younger than me, and I'm certainly not old. You're probably 16 and think anyone above 20 is "old" ? What do you know about ZOS' target audience ? I for one I'm always amazed at the amount of non-teenager (probably "old" in your terms) people in ESO. That makes for nice encounters and interesting contacts and conversations ingame. Which also happen with younger people ! Who "fall from the sky" when I tell them my age (you know, like "over 20", that's sooo old !!!) .
