I get the purpose of completing an achievement just to have that feeling of accomplishment, but what is the purpose of the points associated with them?? I can't seem to find what they do??
I originally thought they can be converted to "Crowns" for use at the Crown Store or converted to a % difference (1500 points = 15% discount) for purchases at the Crown Store. All great thoughts, but unfortunilty they're not putting them to good use (
?? Winning...not my personal life! I've spend more time completing this stupid things.. i do see that some reward colors for style.. was there any other discussions about maybe rewarding armors, equipment..etc?
Achievements are a road map for most of the relevant actions any given character can do. They provide a reference for what you've done, and when you did it. Point values give a sense of importance or rarity. The achievements themselves unlock titles or dyes.
As of 2.6.5 there were 24,015 total points, so you can also calculate the percentage of relevant actions you've done in the game on any character.
I'm not sure what to think of your crown store speculation. There's just no evidence to support that line of thinking.
I have 93% of all PVE achievements done. To be honest they do nothing.
Worse yet ZOS put in achievements that take 70 days to complete at 2-4 hours work EACH day to complete that give the same points as a achievement that might only take 10 minutes. They implement the points bad and the achievements even worse..
They dont think about it at all and being a completionist on ESO is the equivalent of the James Bond scene where he is getting his balls beat with a knotted rope...
It's fun to fill the bars up to the top, and once you're done with one set you can start on a new one! I hope they keep coming out with new bars to fill, it gives me life.

Achievement points aren't some system that enhances your character in any way. It's purely a way for players to track and gauge their accomplishments and are their own kind of fun.
I decided early on that I could not be bothered to try to get ALL the achievements on ALL the characters. So, I would try periodically to complete ONE character. The rest, whatever they get they get and I don't care to fluff them out, unless having one of the titles would benefit that particular character.
For my main, I like knowing what all she has done. Sometimes I will just look through and see if there is anything that she needs that I feel like working on, and go finish it if I find something that sounds interesting. After playing for so long I sometimes feel like I have run out of interesting things to do.

Achievement points themselves are - as others have said- meaningless.
Achievements themselves however can be used (and are useful I've found) as a guide for experiencing all of the game's content in that area/alliance/etc etc.
I've got a question, where does one find the total achieved achievement points? On the PS4, not all achievements are worth trophies.
Now I'm curious if my total achiev points are shown anywhere. Because yes, what the hell is the point in them.
A couple of them give points to the skill trees for Dark Brotherhood and Undaunted skill lines. For instance "This One's On Me"... I wonder if A Crown of Your Own Trousers gives Undaunted points? I've have to check on my next character that gets it.
Some achievements actually give a big flat bonus XP (slayer achievements in dungeons for instance), others are linked to quests that give a skill point after completion, others offer skins, titles or dyes.
But yeah, most are just here to say "I did it!"

That sucks though! Why can't ZOS change the points to convert to a discount bonus on your Crown Store purchases? Or to be redeemed for gold..
That's another thing that pissed me off.. In the beginning I spent so much gold on Bank Space for my mats, they when they finally come out with craft bags, i was expecting a "gold refund" from ZOS as a "sorry we didn't plan for this sooner and made you spend all your hard earned gold on stupid bank space"...
Even in digital play games people are trying to screw me out of money!!!
