Magicka Templar tank sets

I have been very happy with running a Magicka Templar tank recently for 4 man dungeons. I often run 3 dps and me tank/healing. Right now I am running 6 heavy-1-medium, 5 piece seducer, 2 engine guardian, 2 endurance and 3 willpower (healthy).

I was thinking of switching the endurance-willpower for a nice 5 piece set (1452m, 338 sp, 1596h), and changing out engine guardian for another set as well.

Some thoughts:
  • 5 piece Armor of the Trainee would be superior in every way to 2 endurance/ 3 willpower. Stats wise it is awesome. Hard to farm for non trainee stats though.. lot of time for that.
  • Some set that has a nice 5 piece bonus that helps the group, preferably with some health and magicka. i.e. Sanctuary, Ebon
  • Some set that has a nice 5 piece bonus that helps me tank: like Duneripper Scales, Jolting Arms, Thunderbug's Carpace

For the two piece monster set I don't really need engine guardian. Something that helps with aggro, damage mitigation or helped the group would be preferable.
Some options include
  • Lord warden: When you take damage, you have a 50% chance to summon a shadow orb for 10 seconds that increases the Physical and Spell Resistance of you and your allies within 5 meters by 3870. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds.
  • Swarm Mother: When you block an attack from an enemy that is further than 5 meters from you, you spin strands of spider silk to pull the enemy to you. This effect can occur once every 2 seconds. (I like this since I don't have chains)
  • Might Chudan: lots of resists and major ward (although I use Rune Focus). It is still a nice set!

    There the other monster set that give the group health and stam. Or the large heals. Can't remember the names.

    I run Pve 5 Seducer EG 2Willow Path 3 Transmutation but am farming SPC so I can help the group more.
    Pvp 5reactive 5 transmutation EG
    This won't work for trials but almost all 4 man including VDSA

    the spider helm may be worth considering if you are tank/healer

    it drops from story 1 of darkshade
    1 piece increase healing - 2 piece gives health & stamina back to the group,
    especially good if your 3 dps are stamina melee or able to operate within melee range

    as i was typing noticed someone else made the same suggestion as me - cant remember name either but i know its some kind of dwarven name & helm drops from darkshade story 1

    sentinel of Rkugamz is a pretty meh set at least on a healer. It really doesn't return enough stamina to warrant taking two slots.

    I recently refreshed my Templar tankhealer build. I'm now running:
    5x Seducer
    5x Trainee (or SPC sometimes)
    2x Swarm Mothers
    Chest and shield is reinforced and the rest is sturdy. I run with 2x reduced mag cost and 1xshield play jewelry enchants. With this set up I sit at:
    - 34k health 32k magicka 24k stam
    - Very low block cost (about 600 stam)
    - Very low magicka cost (for heal spamming)
    - 30k+ resistances
    - swarm mothers chaining

    I ran vDSA with it last week with it and it was a breeze (although I had a designated healer for the last boss)

    I've been doing templar tanking for awhile now. The combo i feel is Histbark/dragon with several monster sets(swarm mother for trash mobs, engine guardian for heavy boss fights like RoM and CoS, bloodspawn for warhorn ult, etc). I wouldn't recomened sentinel as i tested it and it's underwhelming and never seems to proc.

    If you're tankhealing switch out dragon for spc and run a resto staff on your backbar.

    I've run all endgame content except Rakkat on my templar tank, its ubelievable how underrated it is.

    Malubeth is a great monster set since it also heals you everytime you take damage, if I'm not mistaken, as to other sets, the current OPTIMAL meta set (or the one every copycat uses) is 5x Alkosh, 5xEbon and 2x Bloodspawn. Although of course I don't believe in this BS, so I normally make my builds, still levelin my 4th tank (Templar) so I'm not sure which direction to go, although, as my sorcerer tank, I normally use 5xThunderbug, 2x Stormfist and 5x Jolting,...lightning for days!

    @Sneakles I worked last night on building the Seducer/Trainee build and my numbers are similar to yours. I love all those stats! I need to farm the monster set now. My spell power number is pretty low now (was runing Willpower before), about 1400, but magicka is high (34K). Looks like my BoH heals are 6K or so if I am in my focus. Not sure if that will be sufficient for solo healing a vet with 3 (bad) dps, but it should be enough to really help bad pugs get through dungeons.

    That really is my goal, to make my randoms and pledges go more smoothly when running with undergeared, unprepared and uncooperative random people.

    When I run with my guilds it is always easy and fun.

    In terms of spell damage, it's roughly equal in heal magnitude to 10.5 max magicka. So by swapping to trainee you gain 2k max magicka which is equivalent to roughly 190 spell damage, offsetting the loss from willpower. You also get the perks of higher stam and health though with trainee. I would recommend upgrading weapons to gold to ensure highest spell damage. Also keep in mind with heavy armor passives you will have another 200 spell damage in combat.

    If I could get my hands on some study Black Rose I would probably swap Seducer out for it as it gives more magicka return with constitution to somewhat offset seducer a little, but also gives more stam return too, more stats, and rougly 150 spell damage for larger heals.

    Malubeth is a 6% chance of a weak heal and 4 seconds of 30% increased healing.

    You can get 45 seconds of the buff from pots and for a 6% on hit you get far better use out of Bloodspawn or Bone pirate. If you are looking for self heal seventh legion brute is a cheap placeholder until you get defending warrior, which has amazing passive burst heal/dmg aoe.
