My love-hate relationship with ESO.

So I love this game. I really do. I think to play ESO is really wonderful experience.

And i hate this game. With passion. When the nice dream turns into a nightmare. Which happens every now and then.

At first I thought I must be special. In some weird way game treated me different than most people - I thought. It started with forum registration. Couldn't find activation e-mail. After 30 mins of searching I found one in the spam box(!) written in german(!!). Didn't know what to think about it, but then I thought it must be really really rare kind of mistake and I was just unlucky. Complained, and received a proper link the next day. I registered here without further problems.

The reason why I wanted to do so was that I needed to write in the bug section that my game crashes constantly in Abah's Landing. Really needed help with this one, as I thought I won't be able to proceed in the Thieves Guild main story line. And it was so great, that I really wanted to proceed, but coudn't due to bugs. Again I thought I must be really unlucky, that I can't enjoy this wonderful game to it's full potential. Somehow I cleared the mission and for some time weird crashes stopped. Did many more quests, dungeons and other activities, nearly forgot about problems and my love for the game grew even stronger. I decided to buy subscription plan.
Crashes started again.. In weird times, weird places. It seemed completely random and happened every second or the third day - not THAT often to make me feel really annoyed, but definitely it wasn't pleasant.

Then I tried PvP. Loved it. Fantastic experience. Until 10 minutes Cyrodiil loading screens. By that time I realized I'm not special and bugs are just part of life in Tamriel. Really fast paced PvP, siege is happening, died, really want to quickly join battle again, BAM!, take a break mate. Relog, load another char, log off, log to a proper one, whoops, still happening.
Decided, that I won't jump between PvE and PvP from now on. I'll just focus on 1 at a time..

And now - today, for some reason I can't log into game. Tried my main, tried other char. Turned off computer, back on, another try, still nothing. I can't even play ESO atm, though I could yesterday evening, when I switched it off and went to bed. Don't know if I'll be able to play later on, don't know if tomorrow or later during the week. Part of me really badly want to play, the other part want me to cancel my sub and uninstall immediately. That's my ESO experience and I hope that your's is a bit better.

If you can't log in, check you anti-virus-software / firewall, sometimes they prevent connecting if an update changed something in the ESO-files (or an update of your anti-virus-software / firewall made them forget the permission for ESO to connect).
If you have crashes on a regular basis, check your RAM, maybe its damaged. Was a problem with my computer once.

    I totally understand you.

I also can go from being completely in awe of the game, how big it is, how well made some things are to getting completely annoyed by the constant crashes that have been going on for ages now.

Cyrodiil is a case apart. I can deal with a few random crashes while in Wayrest just going to the Traders or Merchants, but when the game keeps crashing at that 50 x 50 fight that has been going on for 20 minutes, it makes me go nuts. I lost count of how many times I promised never to PvP again (the longer it lasted was 3 days), only to go back a few days later.

I have other things to do, so when there are tech issues, I usually do something more important. However, I can understand an irritation in technical issues when they occur. You want something to work and it has problems. But they are constantly fixing things. Would you rather they didn't?

It is a game. If a person gets anxiety, nervousness, stress, and anger over it, it is perhaps a little too important.

While over all i have been fairly lucky with bugs, I feel your pain. And have my own love hate relationship with the game.

Everyone has a love/hate relationship with online games they play.

Then again, every intense relationship IS a love/hate relationship ;)

Brings back memories of release day when the Wyrd Tree Elementals only spoke in German. Though I didn't understand a word of what was being said, I was still able to finish the quest.

The game has come a long way since that ... and I'm still playing it after two and a half years.
