Valuing Items from sets.

OK, aside from the fact that it's been a while since I posted here :) I've been getting quite annoyed by the fact that there's a lot of items in the game that have no MM value. That's been fine to me when I believed the item of limited use but it's applied to items I believe might be in demand due to utility. So I've come up with a base method for determining value, which I've detailed below. I seek discussion though.

So all the items that drop in the game which can be sold are green so the price listed then, is pretty much a baseline. Most Armour/Weapon items seem to be priced at 90 not taking MM into account so it can start there. Green improvement mats are cheap anyway, worth 15 for cloth/wood and 25 for smithing each atm, so they can be discounted.

Blue cost a little more and it takes 3 blues for a Master Crafter to improve at 100% success, so a blue item should be worth triple the cost of blue quality mats plus base value. Blue Cloth/wood are 40-45, blue smithing are 125 so a blue wood/cloth item should start at 210 while a metal item starts at 465.

Purple quality mats require 4 purples for a Master Crafter to improve an item with 100% success. On that basis using 4x for the value of the quality mat with cloth/wood mats being worth 200-225 and smithing worth 600 a purple cloth/wood item should start at 1000 and a purple metal item at 2250.

To recap:
Wood/Cloth Blue 210 Purple 1000
Metal Items Blue 465 Purple 2250

The discussion should be on increased utility value. For example, I think the following might be of interest for different characters:
Morag Tong (PVP, Weapon DPS), Briarheart (Wrothgar, Weapon Crit), Stygian (Coldharbour, Spell Damage), Storm Knights Plate (Stormhaven, Spell Tank) and Hatchlings Shell (Shadowfen, Physical Tank). Some people like Trinimac's Valor too, apparently.

How much should a multiplier be for higher utility items? 2x? More? At the moment I'm leaning towards double then reducing once every week.
Oooh look, lot's of Butterflies! Wait! Butterflies? Get out of here Sheo, stop bugging me!

I'm selling desirable PvP set pieces at 20k for a purple impen and desirable PvE set pieces at 10k for a purple devines.
Purple sharpened weapons go for more than 20k, the price here really depends on the set.

There are some other traits that are of value for some players but most of the green/blue pieces that aren't impen or devines eventually end up being sold as vendor trash.

I currently have about 600 set items ...

Hmmm.... so you're saying the popular trait items in purple sell for 10x to 20x (popular being imp and dev for armour, sharp for weapons). I guess I've been dragging your averages down ;)
