Templar Stamina Tanking - Seeking advice

Well I've asked on reddit/Tamriel Foundry so I'll try here too to find a concrete answer (Apparently all tanks are DK's? Because there is loads of info out there about them).

I have had the hardest time, it feels like, re-integrating with ESO after not playing for a year and a half (when CP’s were first implemented). I have been trying to get to 160 (I started at 94 when I came back) CP’s so I can use the highest level gear.

I’ve been doing stuff with my AD Breton Templar as a tank. Currently a stamina tank current build currently wearing 5/5 Hist Bark and 4/5 Shalidor’s Curse (I only have the Orsinum DLC).

My problems I see / feel are stamina regen when taunting a bunch of targets for certain boss fights and trash pulls, feel useless on trash pulls because of no AoE taunt / no CC like dragon talons so I use volcanic rune.

I’m just trying to figure out what’s most effective for Vet dungeons / maybe trials later?

Since you are Breton Templar, why not use magicka tank, just get magicka sustained build, and never ran out of resources.
Mine is able to tank vet dungeons. I'm a healer, but back bar is a tank.
My set up is all light armour for mag recovery. Worm set 5 piece, kagrenac hope 5 piece, one monster helm or shoulder for mag recovery. Mag recovery mundus stone.
Skill, inner fire, mag taunt. Breath of life, repentance.
I never ran out of magicka, so unlimited taunt, unlimited self heal, one breath of life hp full.
I don't even need to block often, only block heavy attacks, cos I got too much heal. Stamina almost untouched.
Magicka recovery has 2800, breath of life only costs 2700 for me.
If you use 5 seducer set, you'll have 3000 recovery.

This is a stam Temp tank I have used. I swapped out 2 piece Oblivion's Foe for 5 piece Footman with the jewellery at one stage. Lots of new sets that you could use instead now though.

With 5 piece willow, engine guardian and repentance slotted for the passive regen increase I felt comfortable with the resource recovery. You don't need to taunt everything just focus on pulling any mob that does not stack or chases a party member that does not stack. If you do damage first, use caltrops for cc and everyone stacks you shouldn't have any problems stacking mobs.

18 characters, 17 max level, at least 1 Stam and 1 Mag of every class, 1 of every race and 1200+ CP

Tanked to Undaunted 9+ Mag and Stam of every class using Group Finder for 90+% of the Vet Dungeon runs

Stamina Templar as a Breton for tanking? Funny enough, ive tried the same thing, tho I switched to magica soon enough (never truly liked stamina builds), but, if its help you need, then help you shall receive. As stamina, you focus a lot of your stamina gain with repent, but of course, you need dead enemies to use it, if you put down shards it will normally taunt enemies, by putting it down it will also deal aoe damage, so theres one you can use, you can also use the fireball Templar morph for large, groups since it can divide itself to 3 enemies. The problem with these is that it costs magica rather than stamina, so this always came as a problem to me, I'm not sure if there are many snares on a Templar, all I can tell you to do is use more sword and board abilities (not always recommendable) since they cost stamina and find out which Templar abilities morph to stamina (do have some that cost magica so you can use them in case stamina runs out. You can always heavy attack to regain stamina and use Radial Sweep ultimate since its very cheap and it actually deals a decent amount of damage plus one of the morphs will give you a shield.

For gear though, id advise on using one that gives you more stamina in case yours is low (Draugr will always give you stamina), stack up on food, potions, and get those CP points into Warlord and Mooncalf (shadow ward as well for reduced block)

I have 2 tank builds, a DK and a Templar.

I look at my Templar as a work in progress as I keep experimenting with different sets. Most of the short comings I have with my Templar tank I feel come down to the race I picked for that build (Argonian lol).

Stam regen is an ongoing problem. As I recall there is a CP trait that allows you to regen more stam with heavy attack which I use to good effect on my DK. As my Templar tank is currently set up for treasure hunting my CP is all wrong for good tanking.

The lack of a Templar CC is a pain and I have used shards for aoe but its just not as good as Caltrops.

As for sets, I have used the harvester monster set, reactive, and endurance and Agility sets. I also run Black Rose on him when things go to ****

Basically since my Templar isn't my primary tank it gets to try out all the different sets out there. That being said, might have to look at the magic Templar tank thing when I get back to playing in December.

How do you have so much MP regen p_p

Sorry just hit 160 CP yesterday so I'm a bit confused with stats and all recently because for some reason I have less health/stats joining Vet dungeons now at 160 with 160 gear then I did pre-160.
