What's the logic behind <50 level characters and CP levels ?

For months I used to think that CP levels didn't matter for sub 50 characters. Why should they? You are just at the beginning and getting used to play. You can't use CP gear, official CP levels are locked for you - you are level XY character not XYZcp. The content is scaled to your own level. Further, if you never reached CP levels before, you are left to your own little self.

But I was wrong. SO wrong. CP levels matter immediately. Some people (most likely duelists) hide behind low level characters and stuffed CP points for high weapon damage, armour and regeneration.

Learning about this was almost a hidden feature for me. But why? What's the logic behind this? Now that the game is basically scaled to your own character, why Bethesda didn't make 1-50 levels to be NON-CP. Meaning you couldn't allocate CP points if you were not over 50?

Everything isn't actually scaled to your level from my experience, seems to me that level 1-50 is easy mode whether you have cp or not and when you hit 50 cp dictates difficulty of gameplay.

So it is easier to level up alt characters. Who cares about low level dueling anyway? That's no reason to take away cp from under 50 characters.

The leveling system in the game is to entice you to get eso+ for the minor exp buff, I suppose.

There's no other way to explain it; it's grindy to an extreme, creates a massive rift between new players and old, and is just bad in general. We're not playing on NES systems for crying out loud. The days of damage formulas being improved through kilowatt hours are long past.

Honestly, this should have been done for any characters below lvl 50. Cp shouldn't be this 'must have' feature for a lower level character, it should only be available for those who have reached 50 and have an understanding of their class and therefore an understanding of builds needed for that class.

However content does not scale to your level, it's you who scale to content. And gear plays a much more important role in maintaining that scaling. A solid build and right gear gives much more to lower level characters than cp does imo. Didn't have any cp allocated to my levelling alts and I still managed to solo world bosses (well, certain ones).

^ Absolutely. And that's also true - it's us, players, that scales the content. I totally get the newest system where you inherit your CP points (if any) from your advanced characters. That way you don't have to endlessly pave the way to the top for every character you create.

But I still fail to see the logic behind <50lv and CP points. If I don't have any CP points on my character and cannot use CP gear, I shouldn't be able to use CP pool that my advanced character(s) generated. Not until I reach "veteran" level myself.

I also feel that Champion points on <50 characters takes away from the "true Leveling experience". I just uploaded a video of myself soloing fungle grotto with a lv 21 Sorcerer, no CP spent, and some random gear picked up while leveling. I did banished cells and spindleclutch alone before that.

The people who use champion points on low level characters ca go on and progress even faster, but they shouldn't say anything about "progressing too easy" even though it is to begin with.

For now it's more of a personal choice whether to use them or not while leveling and I'm sure many would just ask something like "Why not? Can at least get passives like run speed, sprint reduction or something" But to me, That character has not earned the right to start his champion path.

Since you can allocate CP on a low level character, my take is that it's a reward for achieving vet status and gaining CP on your main character.

A reward in that your new Alt character has better abilities due to CP ... that the character would otherwise not have. No failed logic in that.

    YMMV

Some lowbies I don't bother with CP, it doesn't "feel right" for that character.

Some lowbies I use 'em right away; in my mind it's representing a mentorship of sorts.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

CP really should be something different.
CP also not to be confused with how it's used for the old reference to VR levels (it's now the same thing) is the larger issue.

I'd like CP to be CP passives and allow any character to gain them as well as show the characters progress but not as a CP level and not only for level 50.

It certainly can give the inexperienced player below level 50 a certain feeling of inadequacy - seeing someone your level rip through content that you are struggling with. Even if they displayed how many CP you have allocated for your character it would give others an indication that you are not what you seem.

I use my CP on new characters because I want to reach 50 as quick as I can. I took 4 characters to vet level before I had any CP and am in no hurry to spend any more time leveling than I have to.

It should be left as a personal choice to use or not use your CP when leveling a new character but if your characters allocated CP showed up next to your level, it could make things 'fairer' in the competitive environment that dueling is supporting. But that leads to a whole other matter....

I think they should introduce new gear for sub-50 characters with X CPs, and that characters under 50 should show how many CPs they have just like characters that are at Level 50. If they mean something for sub-50s (ie, increased H/M/S values), they need to be shown just like they are for 50+. Otherwise, they should stop showing CPs for Level 50 characters.

Account wide CPs are a perk just like other games (e.g. WOW) have had account-wide perks or items that can buff your second and subsequent characters to make playing alts easier if you choose to use the perk.

The only place where this was a bit of an unfair advantage was PVP, especially the <50 PVP campaign so they canceled the effect of CP there and in one other 50+ campaign to make PVP more accessible for those who are not maxed.

As to dueling... do people actually take that seriously? :)

the CP system is the same as the paragon system in diablo 3, if your character gains cp points/paragon points, your other chars also get those points as well.

Uncertain about the logic of this post. I am assuming there has been a defeat or multiple defeats at the hands of other duelists.

It's has not been hidden, by any means, that earned CP is available to all characters. Really do not understand why he reason for the OP.

The way I understood the game, levels 1-50 are for learning, getting skills and abilities. Once you are over 50 you become a "champion" or "veteran". Using the champion points as level 3 is hardly, well, justified. You don't even know who you are, let alone be a veteran.

But I do get what one said here: A reward in that your new Alt character has better abilities due to CP ... that the character would otherwise not have. So it's all about leveling fast and smooth. But the good thing is it's all optional.
