Game has become unplayable in the last week - lag spikes

First of all the problem is definitely not on my side. I troubleshooted everything and my internet connection is fine.

For the last week I have been getting unusual lag spikes (with a low ping) where the game freezes for some seconds. Sometimes it is only one second, sometimes up to four or more (usually the result is a death). Usually this happens in dungeons, trials and MA (I have not once noticed this overland or in PVP).

The problem has been getting worse for me. I just did two vMA runs and kept getting these lag spikes (not sure if it is really lag, because the screen freezes for some seconds), which resulted in 20 deaths. The thing is that this time some of the freezes did not end, so I was forced to crash my client.

I'm pretty confident that the problem is not on my side, because friends and other players are also experiencing this. When they check their connection everything turns out to be fine.

Maybe somebody should look into it. I'm on PC EU.

Memory leak, fps drop, increased lag.

I know - the leak doesn't exist in eso

Although the symptoms...

It started with 1T, but for sure they work on it

Jesus christ! I am playing a normal dungeon for farming purposes and i keep on dying because of those ridiculous lag spikes!
And how im i supposed to beat the mealstrom arena now? This update like the rest broke something, but this time it rendered the game unplayable to a whole new dimension. My character is hopping like somebody using a lag switch on destiny, that never happened to me in the past in this game, FIX THIS BEFORE THE EVENT ENDS ZOS!

It's pretty ridiculous. Goes from being around 100 to spiking over 1k for several seconds at a time.

Even in low pop areas.

But hey, crown crates, right?

Never experienced PvE lag like this.

I've been having this exact problem recently as well. I'll lag out and about 1 minute later, I'll be booted back to the login screen. Sometimes it will tell me I'm already logged in (which is of course not true) and sometimes it will give me an error saying it can't connect to the lobby or to the server. After about 5 minutes, I can log back in just fine. Just long enough to mess up a vMA run. My other internet activities like teamspeak and other websites work fine, but I can't connect to ESO or to the ESO websites at all during this time. I even tried turning off my firewall completely as a test and it still happens. If anyone has any ideas on how to stop these login screens, I'm happy to hear it.

Yes. Like I said I'm pretty sure the problem is not on my side. Friends have been experiencing the same for about 1-2 weeks and also other people posting here.

Its happening on PS4 aswell EU server and then massive loadscreens and disconnects.

For me this issue started with 1T, up until then I very rarely experienced lag, now it's very regular. I have 80Mb/s fibre, plus am connected with cat5e to my router, so it's not an internal thing.

Are you using a Destruction staff? Sounds like the destro bug where every time something dies you get a screen freeze

Hey,

I got the same issue and I found these things to be true.

1. Playing outside of peak times = no lag
2. The couple seconds lag you described in instances, ground dungeons/vma did happen during this peak time, the way I was able to kind of resolve it was to close ESO and restart it which seems to "refresh" the client.
3. During peak times at Grahtwood I was getting something like 2-3 second lag spikes, outside of peak Sydney NSW Australua 7PM it's very smooth. VMA no lag no skips nothing.

I think this is all due to server constraints, as you mentioned it has NOTHING to do with your connection.
Take it from me 87MB down and 52MB up on PS4. If it's the users end we have much more an issue with those kinds of speeds LOL.

OneT was a good patch and brought more players in and it's become fun more so than it was.

But underlying issues.

1. blue screens
2. lag during peak times
3. buggy quests
4. skill bugged using certain skills (maybe due to this lag spike issue) I doubt it though

So many things which need fixing.
