How many established games that have been running a couple of years and just expanded to console...
..then decide to say f* it, this isnt working.. and tear the game apart to create 1T instead ?

For me it shows someone with gonads is recognising problems and actually dealing with them instead of ignoring them.
No matter what the effort required.
That demands a considerable amount of respect IMHO.

They are generally moving in the right direction.
    They are recognising issues.
They are not afraid to turn the game upside down at any time to achieve an objective.

I will just sit here and wait in quiet anticipation.
Downhill as in bad ? No I dont think so.
Changing too much too fast ? Maybe.

If new players want to come.
If new players want to stay.
If starry eyed players come to forum and say WOW what a game.
I wont be complaining too hard.

That being said.....FIX THE DAMN BALANCE !

Depends on how you look at it. I think the game is healthier than ever, but like you, I'm finding it a bit stagnant. I barely log on anymore, and if I do, I run pledges then log off. Today I logged on for 5 minutes. Opened 6 chests, received 4 crap ice heart shoulders and logged off again. I think my days playing ESO are numbered, but yeah, I can't see PVP getting fixed anytime soon so I have no real reason to log on anymore.

While I agree with some of the things you said, I have to disagree on a couple of points.

    1. Recognizing issues, not so much. No fixes to balance, no fixes to crafting, no fixes to lag. There customer service is at best mediocre, at worst atrocious.
    2. New players coming and staying. Yes 1T was a step in that direction. Battle scaling is off, way off. There is no learning curve with the set system in place, which makes for high cp players with lower skills.

I agree any game needs to bring in new players. The money has to be there to continue or they will just close shop. The last few updates have been good for that goal. Now that being said, there hasn't been many changes or added content for the veteran players. IMHO this is creating a divide in the player base. The hard core players don't want to run with new players, and as of right now there is no incentive to do so.

Example: you could take low levels into trials, and when you came out you had something to sell. Why is this important. Well because it takes resources to run trials, especially if you are teaching others the mechanics. How much gold or time is spent buying or gathering reagents for potions. Varies but it does cost, with bop items now you can't recoup your losses. Sure some people are still willing to help, but not as many as before.

They, ZOS, have to find that fine line and cater to both casual and hardcore players. Right now it seems as though the veterans aren't getting any love.

And I will not even get started on the proc wars in Cyrodill, it needs a major overhaul somehow.

All in all I think they are doing there best. Only time will tell if ESO stands. Destiny started out with the same plans as well and it didn't take long for that to get derailed.

Pretty sure it's hit the bottom of the hill already and started burrowing into the ground in search of Pellucidar.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.
