Question about Silk of the Sun

Trying to get the Silk of the Sun set for my Mag DK i got 2 rings and a necklace just need two 1handed swords sharpened so my question is.

1. How big is the drop rate for the 1 handed sword with the trait sharpened because i was farming overland group bosses yesterday in stonefalls almost all day and it mostly drops red mountain set or sun set gearbut no weapons (the only weapon i got atm thats kinda useful is the resto staff silk of the sun with defending)

2. Also would you farm overland bosses or rather go to a public dungeon kill the bosses to try and get the swords?

Good question, I think the public Dungeons drop Shoulders 95% of the time though.

You get weapons from World Bosses and Public Dungeon Bosses. And, not all that often. So, to get a weapon, and in your case, two, of the preferred type and trait? Prepare to spend some time grinding, or grinding gold to buy it in a guild kiosk.

Me, I would go for the weapons, get something for the set. Then, keep on until I got the preferred one. While Sharpened is good to have, the Set Bonus is even better.

Also, unless your trying to run a two Piece Monster set you can get to 5/5 without a weapon. This will allow you to craft the trait you want. Or, make one 5 piece in Crafted, the other in Dropped as then you get the Jewlery on 3 pieces, 2 armors for the set, then 5 crafted. This lets you run one monster piece, like Molag Kena, or two in the case of DW

Yea shoulders arent a problem or anything else of the body pieces but the weapons are

I was thinking of going 5xSun 2Rings, Necklace, 2Swords.5x from another set (dont know which one yet) Chest, Belt, Gloves, Legs, Shoes. and then either Skoria or the Vault of Madness monster set with the fire around you even if you move around it stays on you.

So change your set to not need the weapons. 5 piece set is just 5 pieces. Doesn't mean it has to be weapons to get the damage or status your looking for. Never quite understood why somone would pay the 200kg for a sword I found, but low and behold it did sell. I then used necklace, rings, waist and boots and got the same result; only 200,000g richer.

I need weapons because im not making a build with crafted gear so i need to grind weapons anyway. And i never check the traders because a few friends told me they go for alot and some traders even have these waaaay to overpriced items..

Another source of weapons?

I got a Silk of the Sun sharpened staff from a treasure chest that I got the map from while in another zone.

So weapons can also be gotten from there.

True but the bad thing about the treasure chest is it can give a random set can be Sun, Red, or Shalk. and then hope you get the right piece with the right trait overland bosses drop chest, leg, head and weapons and public dungeon drops shoulders, gloves, shoes and weapons. Even tho sun swords have a low drop rate i think youre better off doing the bosses

Also you mentioned that you didn't know what 5 piece you wanted with sun and your valkyn/grothgaar set have you considered burning spell weave from city of ash. Maybe you would have more luck getting weapons from there as a run of CoA1 normal takes 10-15 mins. Just not sure which loot table is worse. A chance of weapon or jewels from 3 diff sets or weapon legs chest and whatever else from 3 different sets from world bosses

No problem and I run a destro/destro or resto mag dk that has valkyn 2 piece jewels belt and back bar staff litch and then the other 4pieces and front bar destro I have run as sun, burning spell weave and julianos and spell weave seems to outperform the other 2 in terms of damage but it's hard for me to be accurate as I'm on console.

Yea im trying to get a dw/resto build first and then grind for a destro/resto build to switch from time to time. for me if i play too much with the same gear i just get bored so when i get the feeling of being bored i switch to destro/resto or dw/resto whatever i use then. I will keep that in mind. And yes we need a few more addons on console like buff times etc

Well, just mix and match - perhaps you'll get a weapon or two of the other set first. It's not like it used to be where almost no sets had weapon or jewelry pieces. My DK has Silks of the Sun and Elf Bane (but Elf Bane has enough bugs at the moment, being an ancient set almost no one ever used, that I'm not sure it's worth it at the moment).

Elf bane i seen that set never used it myself. I might even try 3 piece arch- mage and a 2 piece from another set that has either max magicka or rec i still need to look what my rec is going to be at. Thanks for the help!

Elf Bane is a heavy armor set which adds 2 seconds to the duration of fire DoTs. In theory, anyway.

I've farmed Stonefalls a lot, and I received the most weapons from world bosses, including sharpened daggers and swords. Could just be a coincidence, but yeah, delve bosses didn't yield much.

By no means was I saying you should change or my way better sorry if it came across that way.
If I could get away with dual wield I would and enjoy having 5/5/2 set bonuses but I mainly PUG with my dk so things like elemental drain, siphon and mystic orbs are myths my character gets to hear about so I need the sustain from Destro.

A guy in the zone chat got a sword sharp after a week farming land bosses. i myself got a few sharp weapons but not swords i got a mace and a axe tomorrow another day to grind again...

You haven't decided on the other set to compliment Sun yet ... but you have decided it shouldn't be crafted??

Is it an issue with not having enough materials/resources (or gold) to craft the other set?

It's way easier to craft the weapons that you need in the desired trait ... rather than rely on an admittedly slim RNG.

Also, unless your trying to run a two Piece Monster set you can get to 5/5 without a weapon. This will allow you to craft the trait you want. Or, make one 5 piece in Crafted, the other in Dropped as then you get the Jewlery on 3 pieces, 2 armors for the set, then 5 crafted. This lets you run one monster piece, like Molag Kena, or two in the case of DW

ooh man, 2 sharpened swords is better than the 5th piece sun set, particularly since they aren't mutually exclusive, isn't it? 5280 pen vs 450 spell dam that doesn't get buffed by major sorcery

It's way easier to craft the weapons that you need in the desired trait ... rather than rely on an admittedly slim RNG.

Materials/resources isnt a problem at all but i did see sets that you can farm that are slightly better atleast some of them and im willing to try them out just the farming is a pain lol I can also use seducer I have the pieces imp from my other dk build even heavy kag

Its better then trials but the RnG is horrible the only weapons i got sharp from Sun is the destro and 2 axes other then that i get stuff from red mountain and shalk sharp.
