Do u need a monster set to compete with others and if so, where do they come from? Someone said u could earn them in pvp, but I only earn trash.

Worry about those when you reach level 50 and CP 160+ is my advice.
For now just play the game and enjoy leveling up

They drop from veteran dungeons on the last boss (head 100%)
Shoulders come from undaunted keys (daily) once you reach level 45

When someone said they come from pvp they probably meant the golden vendor. She comes on weekends to your alliance base and sells a random monster piece for gold or ap.

If you are serious about competing in PvP and PvE, there is no way around certain monster sets.
As already said, you get them from the dungeons and the chests that you open with the daily undaunted quest keys. But you can also get them from the golden vendor in Cyrodiil. He is always around during the weekend in one of your alliance gates and he sells Infused monster helmet or shoulders for gold and Impen for AP. The helmet or shoulder changes every week, though it's completely random.

The golden vendor shows up on weekends at South morrowind gate. That is only way to get in cyrodil. Otherwise you get helmets from vet dungeons and shoulders from undaunted quest rewards via keys

You either find them under a Gooseberry bush or the Stork brings them. Some players have been known to find them in a cabbage patch whilst harvesting for mats.

Not needed to compete, but most proc (cause) more unique damage against foes.

I just want to emphasis this - you do need the VETERAN version of the dungeons for the helm drop.

No you don't need a set to compete. I've been able to defeat plenty of players in PvP...granted, they weren't one on one fights, but that doesn't matter considering many people say Cyrodiil is a warzone and should be treated as such. Cruelly. Unfairly. And preferably from atop your Keep walls where they can't get to you.

I am sorry to inform u, but there r no gooseberry bushes in cyrodiil and cabbage patched has horrible RNG rates. Maybe I'll have better luck waiting on the stork to drop a set off.
