Direct x12 functuality with ESO

Hey guys just wondering if anyone can help me here, I have downloaded ESO through steam and when I try to press play it comes up with an error stating my direct x version is unsupported. This seemed strange to me and after doing a little research I found that ESO runs on direct x 11, I have direct x 12, should this game work? If not how can I fix it?

Try updating the drivers of your video card if you haven't done that already. You also might wanna try Googling and downloading the Direct X runtime web installer.
