Does Horse Training Discourage you from Playing a New Character?

I ran across this point in another discussion and thought I'd just take a straw poll.
With new character slots available in the crown store I wonder how much money Zenimax is losing because of this one almost unbearable game mechanic.

No, Horse training does not influence whether I create a new character.

Yes, I would crate more new and more versatile characters but 180 days of horse training discourages me.

No, when I have a concept and feel like putting the time to play with it I'll roll it up. My last two are mostly bank alts anyway; my newest Sorceress I don't even move from in front of the stable most days, I just needed more pack space.

It does not stop me from creating a character, but it does give me pause.

I grind characters through nMA and then their lives are sold to the Undaunted from then on. If I need any PvP skills, I do that solely through Imperial City. Due to the queue in the Group Finder cutting any travel time that might have been left behind, I never train my horse.

I would love to see the upgrades come faster (I would agree with improving each of the three slots once per day instead of just one slot per day).

It does not influence my decisions on character creation. A horse is not a mandatory item.

There's a hard cap on character slots. So that's the main limit here.

I actually deleted one who was about half way through (plus fairly advanced in crafting and trait learning) a few days ago just because I had no real use for the character and wanted to make a different one. Couldn't imagine actually ever playing him. He would only have been a storage mule. Plus about 4 others who were a month or two in.

I may or may not play them less than my more horsely advanced characters until they catch up. But with vet points being account wide, I can play my more horsely advanced characters until then.

No more than skyshards, Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, Undaunted, alliance rank, skill lines, etc.

It's just part of the game, and decidedly the easiest part at that. Yeah it takes awhile, but if it bugs you that much just buy a bunch of riding lessons in the crown store.

Yeah I find the tedium of horse feeding drives me away too. I only just a few weeks ago finished feeding for my first character which I had been working on on and off for years.

Right? It's literally the easiest thing to do in game. Hell, park a character next to the stables, press button 3 times, log out....

      It kind of is though.

I have the merchant and at the moment I'm subbed so having the crafting bag. Those two solve a lot of inventory problems.

But baseline unsubbed and unassisted ESO is a notorious inventoy management nightmare where every inventory slot is precious.

I just made all my alts as early as possible and then spent time every day for 180 days logging on to each to do riding training. >.> And now that we have 4 new slots I'm doing the same again. Everyone's max speed, at least!

Mount training doesn't even make my list. Grinding out a new character is why most of mine have stayed at a low level. Until this event. I "finished" 3 characters during the event between the double xp and ambrosia. I have 2 left to do, but I figure I will wait until the next time we have double xp to finish those two.

The question is misleading. None of the options fit my scenario.

It asks if Horse training discourages from PLAYING a new character but the poll options only talk about MAKING a new character.

I have 12 characters. 7 or 8 were maxed when they upped the character slots to 12. I made 4 more when we got the extra slots but did not play them until my horse was max speed and stam.

So for me it does not discourage me from making them but it did discourage me from playing them until the speed and stam were max.

      Exactly what I do.
I don't think twice about mount training when making a new character (and no, I never bought riding lessons in the store, not a single time).

My two last characters, made after DB because I had to buy two more slots, still aren't finished. But I don't really care, I play them all the same.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

      Meet my characters:
      Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I fed a red guard nightblade's horse for about 70 or 80 days. But I'm just not really interested in playing the stamina burst/gank game. I've quit feeding that horse, and will likely never play that guy but haven't deleted him because of all that time spent logging him on and visiting the stables.

It seems to me that you start seeing the benefits of training after about 20 into speed or stamina. Carry capacity is nice, but does nothing to influence your travels. In my opinion, 180 days of training isn't necessary to enjoy the character.
