Activity finder and wait times since 1T dropped

I play solo a lot at the moment, main through my work times and the fact I don't feel fully comfortable subjecting my guild mates to my lack of knowledge when it comes to dungeon mechicanics. Til I know what's what in vet dungeons, I run activity finder. I find it easier to learn in activity finder and my mistakes when it comes to mechicanics or rotations aren't really judged but If they are then 9/10 I won't see the same people again. It's not being harsh to the players who play the activity finder regularly, I just feel there's more chance of grouping regularly with guildies in the future if I'm up to scratch on the runs than playing with someone they have to carry and visually suck at the basics. My thoughts behind it anyway, I'm sure my guild mates would care Lol. So that's the back story behind this post and why I use the activity finder instead of grouping with guild mates

Now to the point, since 1T landed I struggle to find runs. On average I wait over an hour, before 1T it must have been anywhere up to 30-40 mins. The last 3-4 days though I haven't done a single pledge because of the HUGE cue time of 3 hours plus, where I've cancelled it through what to actually get on with my life. This is on PS4 Eu, is this a thing happening on other formats and/or other regions? I've sent a report ticket thing but I'm getting a response from Wall-e and not getting the help humans would give

Here's today's waiting time just for kicks and I guess proof - m.imgur.com/LazZ66J

That is weird. I have had better wait times after one Tamriel than before.

PC / NA, been pugging the last couple weeks getting undaunted 9 on two characters: a tank and a DPS. Tank gets groups almost instantly and the DPS has had a maximum queue time of 10 min.

There was one time I was on my tank with a friend on her healer and we, astoundingly, could not get the group finder to give us two DPS for nWGT. It was like 4am eastern, but we both have had so much luck with the group finder that we were totally gobsmacked that it was not working.

Just putting this out there, but wouldn't it make more sense to learn dungeons with guild mates? Surely they'd be more understanding than some randoms who have been waiting in a queue for hours on end like yourself just to get wiped over and over again.
The whole idea of being in a guild is to be able to rely on them, and hopefully learn from them. Otherwise what's the point? Not being mean here. Just saying I think you should ask your guild to run pledges with you. Let them know you're inexperienced and I'm sure they'd be happy to help. If not, then it's not a very good guild.

The player base getting bigger is a non factor. The % of dps is essentially the same. It is wired though, I have been in groups as healer where we couldn't pick up a single dps as a replacement during prime time for + 10 minutes.

I do remember rift giving group wait priority to subscribing members, an idea perk for + members maybe.

As someone who only plays DPS, I've come to accept the wait time. If none of the people on my friends list are on, I ask my guildies. If none are available, I queue up and quest or farm overland sets. I'll give it an hour, 2 tops (depending on if I am on my day off) and then I give up.
Waited 3 hours yesterday, a Saturday, before calling it a night. It didn't seem to matter if it was Vet or normal.

Although, when 1T was Just a week old (console here), the waiting time was considerably shorter, from 15-30mins. I guess everyone has run off now?

    I'm guessing you're a DPS?

Have you considered being a tank or healer?

Tanking 4 man dungeons is so easy to do. Any level can do it too,

A friend of mine with Low Cp was tanking in vet dungeons in no time. Although he had me to guide him and give crafted sets.

You could be cheeky and que as a fake tank/healer although depending on your group you may get kicked or may make the group fail.
I don't recommend this but you're free to do as you please.

I sometimes as DPS que as tank and just slot inner fire (taunt) for big bosses. And with me DPS is faster run and faster que.

I have found the ETA's being shown when you queue are complete guesswork, I have seen > 1 hr and been in inside 2 mins and have seen < 1 min draw out to 10-15 minutes.

I have no trouble on my tanks but am still seeing delays on my DPS during busy periods but can get on in 10-20 minutes when it is quiet. I have noticed some more delays with my healer lately, so not sure if there are more healers out there or people are pairing with healers before using group finder.

Low level tanks can still get booted from groups though and I see a few DPS grouping up with the tank role marked off just to get into groups. They are generally easy to spot because they don't usually take aggro and have low health.

I've had the opposite experience. Queued as DPS I get groups much faster.

There does seem to be a bug though that happens if I don't accept and take the 15 minute penalty: the next queue seems to take forever. But I've found if you log out and then queue again it goes back to normal wait times.

Healers and tanks have shorter queue times because ~8/10 players are DDs. Some of those actually abuse the tool and queue as tank or healer although they lack the skills, gear (no 1h weapon and shield, no resto staff and/or healing skills) and experience, even the build (ex. stamina DD queued as healer) to actually fill that role. In normal dungeons it's not a problem if the other players have good sustain, self heals and can avoid, block and interrupt on their own the heavy attacks from bosses and bigger mobs, but in veteran dungeons queuing and not playing the chosen role should result in a quick kick. But veteran dungeons are a totally different ball game, especially after the buff they got.

I haven't actually used the grouping tool since One Tamriel went live because I have limited time. Because I don't want to waste hours in a simple veteran dungeon like BC2. I don't run normal ones anymore since I want to get purple gear - armor and weapons can be upgraded, jewelry can't. I also want 2 keys for each pledge and only make an exception for SotH dungeons, since there are still few players experienced enough to get HM on those. So I usually settle for one there - got both on 1st run with some friends but it actually takes 4 experienced players who have good coordination to beat HM there. But not being able to complete HM on the vanilla and IC dungeons in 3 attempts or less is a bad mark for any player that has CP250+. And the group finder can actually fish out lots of those scrubs, even max CP ones.

Interesting you saying that because I noticed this too.

I'm a healer so I get group pretty quickly with randoms or the pledges of the day. Usually less than 1 minute after queuing.

But if I get that annoying "Can't travel. Instance full" error and leave the group, after the timer resets I can only find groups again if I log out and log back in. Last night I was on queue for 20 minutes as a healer on a pledge dungeons. After I relogged, it took 10 seconds to find a group.

I'm seeing the exact opposite. It's always less than 5 minutes from levels 10- 50 (vet stuff)

    Because of the drops
Basically now dungeons drop desired or useful stuff so ppl will run them

A larger issue was that ppl didn't use it and did manual groups for undaunted only and never stepped in otherwise after the first run

It was all a poor designcrippled by a lack of meaning and a few bugs.

Ran a lot of randoms between TG and DB, when I was trying to reach the CP limit and ran into that problem a lot. It's still present from what I can tell. Try traveling from a shrine to the dungeon, rather than clicking the screen prompt or porting to one of the players already in dungeon. There is actually a cool down of ~1-2 minutes when someone is kicked or leaves the group when that person is still counted against the instance limit of 4 and traveling from a shrine sometimes overrides that cool down.

Yeah, I thought the problem was that the player that left was still on the dungeon. I will try the way shrine method though. Never thought of it. Thanks!
