Dw maces on a magicka build?

UrBaN_RaNgErZz
Hello guys and girls.

To cut a long story short I have been farming Dw swords for my mDk, last night I received a sharpened mace of the set I was looking for.

My question is a mace useless on a dw magic build? should I keep farming for the swords or is 1 sword 1 mace beneficial in any way or is it back to the grind for a 2nd sword.

Thanks in advance.

For magicka, you'll benefit from 2x swords more. Last passive of dual wield is the reason.

Maces, daggers and axes do not benefit magicka-builds at all while using dw. The only usefull weapon for this are swords. If not using swords you loose 5%/2.5% (if only using one swords ore none). If you don't mind loosing that dmg, use the mace...if you mind, grind the swords :)

this is inaccurate, they still have more spell damage then a staff, so you will get more actual damage from class magic ability while having them equipped. the only thing you lose out on is the extra 2.5% per sword, as you point out.

Sure...but he wanted to go DW, so i decided to not compare it to a destrostaff bc it is a lot more complex and doesn't answer his question...

Thanks for the responses, yes a staff would lose my 5pc bonus though, so it's back to the grind for my optimal 2nd sword.

Nope. Each mace only adds 10% physical penetration, while each sword adds 2.5% to all damage done including magical attacks. That's why you see various mages, especially sorcerers, running around with 2 swords, but never 2 axes, maces or daggers. http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Twin+Blade+and+Blunt

I'm using maces, not that they're better than swords but I don't fancy paying 1mil for 2 sharpened spinners swords when I can get 2 sharpened maces for less than 100k.

Swords are better because of the 5% damage, but they come at a price.

Again, you still get more spell damage from any duals, any combo will net you the same amount of spell damage. The only thing that a sword is different from the rest is that 2.5% flat actual damage buff per sword.

Well the direct answer to his question is that yes, having a dual wield will be beneficial to his build. Over a destro staff, if he can get over the lack of damage and the ressource management issues that come with it.
