Maelstrom weapons work on the back bar?

Hey guys!
I don't have the weapons yet but I was wondering... Take the Maelstrom Bow or Destro, for example. They alter a AoE ability. That raises some questions, while having the Maelstrom weapon on the back bar:
1) Kinda stupid, but I just want to confirm. If I'm on my first bar and cast Volley or Wall of Elements, they will be changed by the Maelstrom on my back bar (it makes sense it doesn't).
2) Same as 1) but after casting, I switch to the back bar. Then what?
3) And more important: If I cast from the back bar, and then switch to the front bar, the Volley or Wall will be modified for the whole duration, even if I have no Maelstrom on the front bar?

d8rmir✭✭✭You need to cast the ability from the bar with the maelstrom weapon equipped, then every bar swap is admitted.
You word it in a quite complicated way, however: NO - NO - YES, and this is what most people do1
