Magika Starved Sorc?

Hi there. I am a cp110 magika sorc and I've been noticing that since I hit level 40ish that I'm really magika starved A LOT of the time. I'm having to use heavy attacks to regain it. I thought that once I got some CP in that it would be over but its not the case. I'm a high elf and have all my racials & all the magika reduction/regen talent points from all trees out there. My CP went into magika recovery. Should I have put them in magika reduction instead? Am I doing SOMETHING wrong or should I expect this as a sorc?

Are you using dark conversion as well? It helps a lot with me.

Ability costs have increased over the last 2 or 3 patches, probably as an attempt to counter power creep. Sorcs seem particularly affected by this for whatever reason. Cost reduction is a better counter to this than regen, but you need both cost reduction and regen to sustain forever. If you have all your green cp in cost reduction then try a regen glyph on one piece of jewellery. Also elemental drain from destro skill line will give you magicka back as you damage. And there's always pots to boost regen for 40+ seconds. In pvp I wear 5x seducer for an extra 8% reduction in ability cost, but this shouldn't be necessary for pve.

Edit: probably best not to use cost reduction glyphs if you're stacking cp into cost reduction. The flat reduction value of the glyph will reduce the effectiveness of the percentage reduction from cp.

I actually never had much of a magicka issue with the sorc compared to other classes. Power overload+crystal frag spam makes magicka a non issue.

Not to mention all that extra magicka from bound aegis.

If you don't mind breaking away from the force pulse / cfrag spam, you can try a lightning heavy attack build. It is monster at aoe, and decent at single target. I have switched over and never run out of magicka. Necropotence + Ilambris. Liquid Lightning, Blockade of Fire, Volatile Familiar Damage Pulse, 2 Heavy Lightning attacks. Repeat. You can fit Power Surge, Empowered Ward and all three toggles (Familiar Bound Aegis, Inner Light) on the front bar. Back bar Liquid Lightning, Blockade of Fire (hopefully you have a Maelstrom Fire staff), and the toggles, with Inner Light dropped for Elemental Drain when no one else is running it (not for the magicka return, just the extra penitration). Back bar Overload for utility skills and to burn ulti before using the destro ulti on the front bar.

Consider using Shroud of the Lich set or Warlock, as a secondary set with 2 pcs. armors and 3 pcs. jewellery, and your problems will quickly end.
Also Lightning Staff as main weapon and your basic aoe finisher, with Destruction Expert passive unlocked will give you immediate magicka restoration - afaik ~ 3600 mag per each target killed with destro Staff, on passive rank II.

Are you keeping trash magica potions and using them on pole down?
Have you maxed out alchamey and invested skill points in potion effects?
Do you craft your own potions?

I now use 5pc lich clothing, 3 pc aether or willpower jewelry, 2x kena/ilambris/mortarlauncher

magicka problems gone, and I feel like even though I dont hit as hard, I hit more often, and therefore do more damage.

And for fun in duels, try 5x lich 5x warlock and maelstrom destro resto. cc them till they are out of resources then nuke with a frag and an execute
