percise weapon for DW caster bar...

I've seen people say they like precise/sharpened daggers for their casters (the back bar/aoe/execute bar) and I am confused, I thought the only reason one would use swords is becuase of the bug with DW dual blade and blunt that adds flat damage % to the result(not boosting tooltip) but the double dagger adds to the WEAPON crit.

How does having 2 daggers (VS 2 swords) benefit a caster build?

It is not a bug with the swords, it is a feature.


Who ever is using daggers on a magic user, is misinformed or an overload sorc, since the passive doesn't work in overload.

Once, when vma daggers were broken (they added weapon AND spell damage, instead of weapon only), it used to be a bug. that had its place. But now i really don't know.

Daggers used to add a flat crit bonus across the board, it got changed to weapon crit sometime around 1.4 from memory.
I thought the % damage from swords was also changed to apply to only weapon damage at the same time, but maybe I'm wrong.

Regardless, DW of anything (dagger, sword, mace) gives you higher base spell power than a staff of the same level and quality, that's why some people do it. Maybe they prefer the look of daggers to swords, who can say.

Use swords. Daggers don't benefit magic builds.

Since the weapons "themselves" are never actually used is think u would be better off with any other trait besides sharpened. At least with powered you could get more healing

The sharpened trait is applyed to every skill that is use on the bar that the sharpened weapons are on and the trait actually works in overload on a sorc too. Sharpened is miles ahead of every other trait for dps, like it is 7% more effective then both nirn and precise. That is directly 7% more dps then if you didnt have that trait on your weapon.

Just to reiterate, the extra 2.5% damage that you get from swords is not a bug.

And to reiterate as well, you get the same spell damage from duel wield any combination of one handed weapons. It is only the passive that gives a flat 2.5% actual damage increase per sword increase. As long as the weapons are sharpened, you are only missing out on that flat damage increase. Which does not work on the ultimate overload that sorcerers use. Daggers do nothing for spell crit, just weapon crit. But if it is a precise dagger, it would make the crit chance go up but just from the trait. Which is a dps loss compared to sharpened, except in very specific instances, IE every possible armor debuff is on the mob.

It seems like it would be because why should casting spells with a sword in each hand make the spell stronger, but that's shoddy design for you.

You say shoddy design, I say it creates an interesting choice, either you use dual swords and get max spell and skill damage or you use a destro staff and get the ability to have range and a way to regen magic and get ulti faster. It is a trade off, damage vs sustain.
