Some Rants with OT and WF.

Since OT came out with this Character scaling, it really seems not accurate at times. (PS4 platform.) For one instance that happened, me and my guild mates have been trying to grind the last few days for our last pumpkin mask's, we have been doing what we always do, going around and fighting at Dark anchor's, delve's, and so on. (Which i'm sure many other's are too..) But anyways, without starting the dark anchor first, being at almost 200CP for all four of us, we seen there were three 500CP player's if not higher that entered and started fighting it first. So we jumped in...(By what we read, the battle would be scaled towards the higher level's...Which it was actually working just like that, the battle's were scaled towards the higher ranked player's..Correct me if i'm wrong. That's how it should be if i'm incorrect.) it was a pretty intense battle with damage and so on, where it was taking a bit to kill an enemy. At the tail end, it was like the Boss was scaled down to our level making the Boss scaled to 160, it took seconds to kill him, and not one plunder skull... Where before, when OT just came out, we would go up into a Dark Anchor fight at the beginning till the end, and the boss was really tough to beat and we got our plunder skull's. For the record it was just pretty much the same amount of extra people with 500CP plus.. including me and my guild mates at almost 200CP each, fighting the anchor. Where the Higher CP's started the battle, and we jumped in..and it worked perfect. It honestly didn't matter if the 500CP plus players joined in at the beginning or the end, we dominated the battle, and got nothing for it. (I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, but i'm trying to explain it as simple as I can.)

I'm not understanding the mechanics of this scaling. It's been happening more now since the Witches Festival is ending soon, that the game is starting to become more laggy, the bosses aren't scaling right, and the Plunder Skulls aren't dropping like they're suppose to. And what's worse, people are starting to troll Dark Anchors...on many different occasions, when we started a Dark Anchor, it was just the four of us fighting at one by ourselves till the tail end when the boss shows up, bam like ten different people show up out of hiding and kill the boss and we get no plunder skulls. Keep in mind it is happening a lot more now that the WF is ending soon so it's not like they're showing up just coincidently, because there are also a lot of times where people stand on the side lines till it's time to kill the boss and they run up and just kill the boss and we get nothing because the battle became too easy.. It's BS what's the point of fighting to get the plunder skulls if it you can't even get a Plunder Skull for the hard work you put in..

It's just really irritating that you fight and you fight on these really tough enemies from the beginning, and you don't get anything for the hard work. I also am not please with this so called "RGN" drop rate with the Masks' into the plunder skulls. I really don't believe it's RGN considering that a lot of people getting 5 to 10 a day with masks, and me and one of my guild mate can't even get freaking one...We've have been grinding well over 700 plunders..from the event period...(I know, I know...we had three weeks to get it...But that's not the case..) It sucks that you fight really tough battles and all you are rewarded with is a sweet rerun of recipe's and/or motif's, if that, because the times where you don't get the plunder skulls for finishing the boss... I get that, that's the whole point of the event, but why is it that people can get so many on one account, acting like it's their rerun's of recipes and motif's, so on...And some of us can't even get one? It's sad that it's suppose to be looted for FREE, and it's like your making us have to pay another player that got it for FREE, just so we can get the "rare" mask. I don't know if we are the only ones encountering this or if other's are having the same issue.

Not trying to diss you guy's and/or being rude...Because we really enjoyed this event..But it's like fighting a battle you can't win at. I really believe it should be changed on how it's looted and/or just increase the "RGN" for it, so we can all win and have one fair and square. I hope the New Life Festival is different and much easier? I guess I should say, to be able to collect all the rewards fair and square.. -_- /EndRant

But on the plus side, other than the issue with the RGN on the masks, (I'm sure RGN on other loot items..) and the scaling issue, we've been really enjoying OT! I love going to my favorite land (Auridon) and fighting enemies and actually getting loot. For me I personally love that ESO OT, doesn't look bare anymore when I travel to other cities. Before when OT was not launched yet..With being over level 50 you got access to all of Tamriel..(Besides for the DLC land's of course.) And I alway's wished we could see more player's in these places, almost like it is now.. But it was so bare and dead looking. Now it's like a whole new world and experience. I'm loving that! Just kind of wishing the Dueling boundaries can be set else where and not in front of the Wayshrine's because it gets soo laggy, that you can't even see your map when you're trying to travel to another location, and sometimes the In game character's don't load till like 5 minutes later, making it hard to complete tasks.. :/ The open world bosses are a new and neat experience as well. I love a challenge and now fighting in OT is now more awesome. It's not so easy, and basically, it's like how it should of been at the beginning! Awesome job guy's on OT!

As far as I know everything scales to CP160 across all of Tamriel regardless of the lvl of the fight initiating player. I have noticed the lag as well around the dolmens also especially on the weekends with the festival going and I can imagine its only going to get worse as it comes to an end (I'm PS4 NA as well)

As for the dolmens it is extremely frustrating like you have stated to get the plunder skull from the final boss. I find what happens is everyone throws down their DoT's and before the boss has even dropped they are down 1/4-1/2 health which makes its extremely hard to get the 3% damage in so you can get the skull reward.

During peak times I try to farm the world bosses and head to the more out of the way dolmens. The ones closest to wayshrines are always packed.

I have not been without the brew potion on since the festival started, and farmed I don't even know how many skulls, and I'm still yet to get the pumpkin mask. RNG can be a real pain sometimes. I'm right there with you on that one!

During this event you can't judge difficulty of dolmens by how quick the boss dies. Players don't use their big hit attacks on the trash before the boss. They save those for the boss so they are sure to get enough damage in to get a skull. Some players don't really help at all until the boss is about to appear then they lay out traps and AoEs and position themselves to do as much damage as possible in as little time as possible.
Before the event the boss drop wasn't the prize it was in the chest after the boss went down. Players didn't scramble to get maximum damage in on the boss before the event because it didn't matter.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

First of all welcome to the forums, @Smokinroses

My only comment is that I can see where you'd naturally assume that people were waiting in stealth to hit the boss at the end but I suspect what you're actually experiencing is the Grouped people running from Dolmen to Dolmen and getting there at the end.

The spawn in a pattern in all zones. For instance in Auridon the sequence is middle, southernmost, northernmost, repeat. So when someone finishes one they take off to the nearest Wayshrine, port to the next dolmen, and go from there. Some are far enough away from a Wayshrine that you barely make it in time. I'm not sure which are close to Wayshrines off the top of my head but I noticed this phenomenon while doing Dolmen daily quests with 5 of my 12 characters every day during the Witches Festival.

Bear in mind that I'm in no way suggesting that bands of ESO players wouldn't band together to grief others. I just think in this case it's one of those weird things that's happening at the moment due to this weird festival mechanism.

Thank you for your insight! I agree though, it will only be worse. Last night it was pretty bad, lucky enough to get a skull with all the mad rage. lol I have to agree with you on that one, it is extremely frustrating!! I have a love/hate for how the skulls drop. I wish they did a different way of doing damage for skulls drops, but at the same time, it was smart to do. lol What's the peak times? Me and my crew been traveling all over the place looking for new Dark Anchors and Delves, luckily they were empty, and possibly just a few there. But it seems like it became less crowded after midnight. (Thank god! lol) But, I really hope you end up getting your pumpkin mask without having to buy it!!

It's not really that we were judging the difficulty on the speed of the battle, but mostly that's how it was working out for us. If it died way to fast we got nothing, if it got killed slowly we got one. lol We had a few Dark Anchors last night were we immediately threw down like the "claws" so we could get some kind of damage on the enemy before he died. But I understand that most people are just there for the chest, which is understandable since there's new gear sets to collect..But just so frustrating that you do all the work, and they get the reward's. lol

Thank you for the warm welcoming, Runagate! I appreciate that!

Normally that is the situation they running from Dark Anchor to Dark Anchor, which we understood, just like I've mentioned before..It's just frustrating doing all the work, and getting nothing for it. It's hard to keep motivated, if we were helping other's get their rewards, we'd be all for it! But it's just the fact your trying to reach a goal before the events over, and you do all the work, and bam nothing to show for it? lol But I do get that, and no, I totally get what you are saying though. There is a sequence with the Dark Anchor pattern. But most of them, especially the ones standing on the side lines till the end, is bogus. :( lol But it's true, just keep in mind i'm not saying everyone who does it, is doing it. Just most are being trolls about it.

I ended up trading for the mask from a guildmate so that's a win as far as I'm concerned! I hope you got/get all the goodies from the event. The new food is pretty awesome as well as the motifs. Gotta make some craft mules and deck them out in it haha

I think the peak times are from around 4pm-11pm eastern time (and obviously weekends) as far as I can tell. I'm fortunate enough to be able to play all day or whenever I feel like for the time being (as long as the wife doesn't have chores for me to do)

I have noticed a large drop in people at the dolmens and in delves now that the event is over (on ps4 at least) so farming for set pieces is at least not a big giant rush to out damage the guy next to you.

World bosses seem to be the best way to get some good loot as long as you aren't after jewelry. Although, every so often one of those named pieces will drop but they always seem to be blue. We need a merchant that will upgrade jewelry already!! I don't even care about the cost. I'd gladly pay 15k-30k per ring/necklace to go from blue to purple and 30-50k from purple to gold. Make it happen ZOS!

Before the event was over one of my guild mates finally got one on his own, which was one that me and him both needed. He said he didn't care if he did or didn't have it, it was just the fact of winning it was the happiness he wanted. So he gave it to me, hoping that gave me more luck with getting him one. Guess what? lol On the very last day, I finally got one!! I was so excited and happy to finally get one after all the skulls we've open and so many reruns, it was painful. lol I felt bad he gave me him, but in return I gave him mine! lol So fair trade! Gotta love having awesome, honest, and helpful guild mates! ;) I have like four Gold recipes, and we have like 5 in our guild bank and no idea what to do with em! lol I agree the Motif was pretty awesome, i'm in love with it! :D

Okay, I will keep the peak time in mind next time, if the New Life Festival is like this. Which by what the event detail achievements say, it's going to be really awesome and different! *Cross fingers* It will hopefully be better. Lol that's awesome your wife lets you play all the time! ^_^ Haha rarity!

I've noticed the large drop as well, it's actually nice! I missed seeing my gorgeous avie and color to my outfit! lol I mean having the morph was awesome and felt more into the spirit of Halloween! ^_^

If we could make and upgrade our own jewelry would be awesome!! Me and my guild started this game back in May, because we just got our PS4's back in April. And we finally was able to get ESO, but when we first started didn't know where the "Jewelry station" was. Lol!! So we were expecting one, but realized there wasn't one haha! Maybe future idea's?! It would be awesome. :) I'm trying to save up for this Housing ordeal, it sounds really awesome!!! Me and my guild were talking about housing since we started. We're huge Oblivion and ESO fanatic's! Haha, so housing is one excitement we can't wait for! I really glad you ended up getting all your achievements and items from the event!! :D It's awesome, congrats!

OMG. Between OP posts and responses, too many words make head hurt. Bottom line. There is no scaling down. All enemies are CP 160 and PLAYERS scale up to them.

Lol. Dang, didn't want arguments. It's just my personal opinion. Don't have to be so offensive. I was just curious on how scaling works. That is all. I realized that, that is how scaling works now. This post was from almost a week ago. Lol Sorry if it hurt your head! Not my intention's. Good luck out there.

I also hate this stage of fight when my fps drop so low because everyone spam everything they got just to kill boss before it even drop from anchor. There were dolmens with the boss dropped down already dead - it's ridiculous and something for evelopers to look at really quick. It looks almost like an exploit. Also on the list of things that kills the immersion.
