Character Restore Fail

Maybe I'm in the wrong here somehow, but I feel like I got kinda screwed by ZOS recently. I had a mag sorc long ago that I deleted to make room for more alts, back in the days before we could purchase additional character slots. Now that this is possible, and we can race/name change, I submitted a ticket to get my toon restored so that I could convert it over to a stam sorc.
I submitted a ticket and I was told that it would be possible to get my character restored, but since I was sitting at 9 toons, I would have to delete 2 in order to make room for this old toon, as for some reason purchasing an additional character slot wouldn't solve the problem. So I did, I deleted two mules, replied to the e-mail and basically said "ok, I've deleted the toons, I'm ready now" and then was told that it WOULD NOT be possible to restore my old character.
So. . . yes it sucks that I can't recover my old toon, but that was lost long ago so that doesn't really bother me. But it DOES very much bother me that I was given misinformation which lead to me deleting two useful mules. I spent a lot of time feeding their horses everyday to get their carry capacity maxed, and I spent a few 100k gold on each to buy additional backpack space. I also deconned a bunch of gear so that I could consolidate all my stuff between fewer toons. Recreating my mules to get them back to where they were would take time, gold AND crowns to once again buy an additional character slot. All in all, I feel like I just got shafted pretty bad.

I am surprised they would even want to try restoring an character deleted long ago for various technical reasons.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭This is why I will will use recreation token to change race and appearance before I delete any of my characters. They are all either maxed out on Bag Space or close to it, and maxed out on Horse Stats.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
