Was in Obsidian Scar, dealing with 2 large trash mobs just as i was about to enter Ogmash the Mighty's room, when a group of 4 people ran right past me whilst I was taking down the trash and they slaughtered the boss within seconds. At the time I was on my own and there was no getting past both trash mobs, so decided to just kill 2 birds with one stone. Wasn't even that that bothered me, it was 2 of them piping up saying "Sorry, dude" I bet they were sorry, not!
I wasn't struggling with the mobs, just clearing them as you do and it was fairly obvious why i was clearing them, hence the reason I got the *** poor non-apology apology. Sometimes a little bit of common courtesy goes a long way. It kinda makes you want to become a selfish player too.
That aside, most of the people I've encountered during this farm fest have been decent, so I fully accept I'm currently overreacting. Just had to vent as you do on the internet. Rant over.

But vent away for a minute so that you can move on and not let that bug you. I got a chest snipped while clearing inventory on The Rift by a Goblin I won't name on one of the first days after 1T dropped on PC. At first I was like "wow, r00d" but then I laughed. It wasn't something useful to me (some Witchman weapon), and the rest of the zone was being so nice to me sending me the Ysgramor stuff they found, it wasn't worth it to be mad

It's old school mmo etiqute that if a player is clearing the mobs to the boss, rushing ahead of them and taking the boss is bad form.
Ive screwed some people like this badly in EQ2 though, back when bosses had 2 hour respawn timers, and would get slammed with hate pm's. The difference being I was solo and they were in a group and Id consider that fair game. I can see where OP is coming from though.

Nah, they just said "sorry, Dude". Nothing else was said. That's not to say I wasn't f'n and c'n though, but i had no mic and wasn't gonna type as didn't really fancy a mud slinging match. It was what it was and not so irked about it now. Could have been worse, the dungeon could have been void of other players and would have to have waited an age on the last boss i needed to get the dungeon down as cleared. Because it was the only boss i needed in the dungeon it's why it probably bothered me so much. Any other I'd have just sucked it up and moved on.0 -

✭I get where you are coming from OP. I think the sorry was genuine sometimes people don't think it through when they are doing a group farm. If I'm that close to a boss I will usually move the mobs close to the boss so that if an inconsiderate group comes through I can get a tag on the boss for the loot.PUG Life - the true test of your skill

Not that i care one jot now, but I never once said they weren't entitled to that content. Also like i said, it was more their faux apology that got under my skin rather than them actually doing it. i think the fact that this is an mmo, which does involve persons from all corners of the world, a wide range of age groups, diverse backgrounds and such - should all let you know that in regards to normal "game" protocol/standard decorum - it doesn't really exist...
it is annoying at times - but, it also opens a world of possibility to what you'll see and experience...
@Prof_Bawbag ...come on man - pick a pic, write something about yourself, that stuff about morrowind pretty much tells me quite a bit about your intentions...

It is common MMO courtesy to not go for something when you see someone else is going for it, especially if that someone else is clearing mobs to actually be able to go for said thing (boss, chest, node). On that case, if you go for the thing, you took advantage of that other person's work at clearing the mobs, which is considered rude in MMO etiquette. It is just polite to not take advantage of people, that's all.

Roughly the same in Australia as it is in England but also similar to Scotland. When we want to insult someone, we call them c*** but we also use it as a good term for someone similar to Scotland. Example: "That guy's a c***" is an insult akin to calling him an idiot or an a**hole but saying "The c*** got us a slab of VB down at the bottle-o" is akin to calling him a good bloke.
Anyway, back on topic. That's always been an issue, not just with bosses though.
