Uneven researching

My researching seems to have gone a bit wonky.

My method of researching is as follows;

1) Rock up to a craft table and look at how many research slots I have free
2) Look to see if I have anything I can use to research with. I do? Great….
3) Decon everything else.
4) Rinse and repeat every day or two.

Using that method ive got one or two items that are 8 traits researched and others that are 3 or 4. So I can roll up to a julianos station and make a helmet, boots and a resto staff but then stuck at seducer or magnus for other parts.

Does anyone else research this way or do you specifally target traits on specific parts to keep it even.

The best method is to research the useful traits first, then the next. It's in deed difficult to find traits predictably, but usually you can find sample items with specific traits on guild shops. Most efficient is to research an even number of traits for items of the same type, for example be in the process of researching 4-5 traits on all pieces of light armor, rather than having 8-9 researched on a couple of them and 2-3 on the rest.

I did this with guil store backup.

However i did prioritize the better traits and pieces i used up to the levels i needed. Getting a useful set of 6s allows a julianos set.

I have lots of bank slots and a sheet of paper listing what traits I need for which pieces. If i collect one, I cross it off the list, I lock it so I can't decon by mistake. Then put it in the bank til I'm ready to research it. To find missing ones i don't have I'll use guild traders and try to never spend over $500 on a piece. Usually not over 300 if possible.

Use one of the many spreadsheets on google, makes thing a lot easier. As stated above bank and lock stuff you don't have, to research later. If you're on pc they have addons to help. I personally use my own spreadsheet to keep track of researching and motifs.

I have a spreadsheet on Google with the traits reasearched.

I'd love a (Researched) tooltip on the Decon screen, just like the "Already in your library" for motifs to make things easier.

But I try to keep an even number of traits among lines. If one piece is behind, I just go to Guild Traders and buy something with that trait. Sometimes you can buy very cheap stuff with the trait you want.

Also, prioritize the better traits: Divines, Impen for PvP.

I'm the same with researching though I also have sheets of paper floating about with which traits I need for which gear as a handy cheat sheet when my inventory is getting full but I'm still looting goodies in say a dungeon or delve etc.

Create a storage character. Write down all the research items you need. Go to the guild trader and buy it all or find other crafters to make you what you need. It will certainly take longer to research to get them all to 8 trait. I would suggest doing all the armour pieces with the exception of head and shoulders first as many people wear monster helm/shoulders.

I used to use a Google spreadsheet for the traits, till I came across a research tracker mobile app in one of Deltia's videos. It lets you track traits and motifs learned on multiple characters, and it has a nice dropped set browser; so far it's updated to Shadows of the Hist (One Tamriel update must be coming soon). Not sure if there is a version for Android, though.
