One Tamriel: Resource Nodes

The way resource nodes behave now, crafting is forced on characters in one way or another. If you want to be able to always collect tier 10 nodes, you have to invest in crafting. This is not ideal nor fair. What happened to playing the way I want to play? I don't want to invest 10 skill points in Blacksmithing just so that every single ore node will be rubedite. It makes no sense to be level 50 CP 264 and half or more than half the nodes are Tier 1 materials. Please fix this. Don't penalize the players who gathers with their main and crafts with an alternate.

Well, from my PoV, you get 50% of nodes scaled to your level, everywhere you go. Its a fair trade, if you ask me.

This is why they added lower tier mat crates with the writs, and you see a bucket load on complaints about it on here. Most people don't want it, as they seem them as useless mats.

You cant please everyone. I play like you, but get others dont

it allows people who can only collect low tier mats to sell them to crafters such as our selves. creates a market for them now instead of us just gathering them.

No, it doesn't. There is no market anymore. I don't need to buy anything off of anyone because everything is much easier to obtain. The problem is having to "switch" to "weaker" characters because you have invested most of the skill points into crafting just so you can obtain the appropriate level of materials. And if all you were doing was crafting with an alternate, you never planned on going out and obtaining every single skill point you could. You planned on having just enough. Enough to survive the locations where you would farm if you ever had to. Now, everywhere is dangerous to a build like that. And they are basically making players who focus on their combat trees for flexibility do twice the work to obtain raw materials.

If I'm running around at level 50 CP 150 and above, I should see the appropriate level of materials regardless of invested crafting points.

Play the way you want doesn't mean you get all of the same perks as someone willing to invest 10 skill points where you won't.

I want undaunted mettle but I don't run dungeons so waaaaa not fair! Your statement is no different than that.

If you want to collect top level stuff invest the points. My main toon has over 120 invested in all of the crafting skills and I still have enough to use him in battle. Why should you get the same benefits as me?

Yea lets change the game so the people that have a dedicated resource gathering character with minimal skill points do not have to worry about getting killed on a character they don't care about and will just respawn next to a wayshrine next to more nodes anyway.

You have it flipped. My "gatherers" as you would call them are not low level. They are level 50 CP264 with skill points spent on keen eye. The remaining skill points are invested in passives, combat trees, and class trees. My crafting toon is also level 50 CP 264. But, has fewer skill points to use for "combat" since the majority are into the crafting trees for blacksmithing, woodworking, and clothing. That means fewer points into passives in armor, combat, and class trees. It's a weaker build. I'm not running around with a level 25 collecting. I want to collect as I do other stuff with my characters that are not dedicated crafters. I hope that makes more sense to you.

Why not clear every public dungeon? Every Delve? The group dungeons give you a skill point the first time you complete the quest.

I am sitting on 13 unused skills points on my main, with everything unlocked and all crafting as well. I just used 2 of them on the new weapon ultimates.

There are a ton of skill points out there. I love to PvP because I randomly get them, at least that is what it feels like to me.

With all points in crafting maxed out except for hirelings I have all heavy/med/light passive, all race and class Passives, most guild passive, legerdemain, etc. and I have all my combat abilities morphed with all passive sand I still have over 20 skill points unused. And I am not done with Caldwell a ( 3 zones to go), don't go to cyrodil, and never been to imp city

While you are gathering in a zone with them, snag skyshards, do mainline quests that give SPs. But I honestly don't see how you can't fill one good combat bar to fend off trash mobs cuz that is all you really need. You should be able to gather naked TBH.

It makes a ton of sense. I've been there. You just gotta keep grinding.

    Do this ...

Make enough food to last you a few months. Once you do that respec those points away from provisioning and into your blacksmith, woodworking or clothing lines. If you need more, make a bunch of potions and glyphs and then do the same thing. It will cost you about 10k gold to do this once every few months. It's how I got away with having only one character for over a year. That character is now a CP555 and has all 6 crafting skills maxed.

    Other tips ...
    - don't waste points on snake blood
    - once you learn all 9 traits you no longer need to put the 4 skill points into them
    - only 1 point into keen eye is sufficient
    - Don't waste skill points on passives that don't help you. It's easy to just click yes on every passive in your main skill lines. Read them all carefully, because some of them are dependant on how you play to be of use.

My guess is you can easily find 10 to 30 extra skill points this way.

My crafter has ALL the crafts maxed and has all the things he needs to be effective in battle. He solos all the mobs everywhere and can solo public dungeons too.

My other max level characters have maxed blacksmith, cloth and wood so they can get the max level mats or whatever mats I want them to get. Most of them have skillpoints left over and/or havent even collected all the ones available in their non-home factions and they too solo everything (except world bosses now :s), and do trials with no problems.

There are more than enough skill points and they arent hard to get.
