How Does "Treasure Hunter" Work?

Seriously. How does it work? I recently re-spec'd my CP to be able to have the Treasure Hunter perk available, and I'm not noticing a difference in the loot I get from dolmen chests. I'm still getting green quality and blue quality jewelry right and left (I've yet to receive a single purple jewelry piece). Meanwhile the tooltip reads: "Increases the quality of items you find in treasure chests." Am I missing something here, or is that just a bunch of bs? And it gives the CHANCE at increasing the item quality, rather than guaranteed increasing of the quality.

Treasure Chests are not the same as Reward Chests.

This is not to say that the passive does not work on Reward chests, or some of them, but they are different chests. Some do report the passive helps with Dolmen Chests, but I do think RNG is still a factor. After all, an Increase Chance is not a Certainty.

Yes, you did. It only work on Treasure Chests and Hidden Chests.

I tested it on Dolmen chests and it didn't work at all. My toons that didn't have this skill actually had a better chance at getting purple jewelery than my toon that had this in the CP tree.

Well, you could just use it as intended and open treasure chests and treasure map chests.

With treasure map chests it's a guaranteed set item drop and (Intermediate,Advanced,Master) world chests will also almost always drop set items. That includes jewellery (although rarely in purple).

"Wasted" really depends on your state of mind. I would hardly call the treasure hunter passive wasted but it's obvious you have a different play-style.

Well i did get all purple spriggan jewelry first day without the passive. But i did notice that i was able to find more purple jewelry with it on, because i have a set route i take to get all the chests. So.. it helped me. I keep it on when i PVE overland. In dungeons i respec with Warlord and mooncalf

I am on a mobile right now so someone else can search but I am 99.9% sure there is a green post stating that the treasure hunter passive DOES work on dolmen chests. I didnt believe it at first either until I saw it.

Tooltip has no mention of chance, just increases the quality.

too funny...I just did the same exact thing last night...on a positive note - my break free and Dodge roll cost are really low and my ability to defile stuff is super high...

Careful.

Patch notes imply it only applies to Treasure Chests, as dolmens have 100% chance to drop, and chance to drop can't be improved.

Treasure Chests gained from defeating a Dark Anchor have a 100% chance to drop a ring or amulet set piece from the zone they are located in.

The above is also true of Unstable Anomalies found in Craglorn.

Treasure chests found in the world have a chance to grant any set piece that can drop in that zone.

Simple chests have a slight chance of dropping an item set piece.
Intermediate chests have a good chance of dropping an item set piece
Advanced and Master chests have a guaranteed chance of dropping an item set piece.

If you have the Treasure Hunter Champion Passive, both the above chances and quality of an item will be improved.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Do you mind commenting on this? It's pretty disheartening, to be honest. Why does the Treasure Hunter passive troll me so? I was so disappointed to see that green Necropotence ring, only moments after changing my CP.
