why not? One tam just about got rid of factions all together outside of pvp, other games allow it and if they are doing crown race change, they should have faction as well
So I decided to pick up a race change token because quite honestly I feel like I am a Male Orc Stam Sorc trapped in a Male High Elf Mag Sorcs character sheet..... So I pick up the token to help my character feel better about himself and feel more confident, I use it...... Cant change faction #$%$#^$*&#^! This is 20 freaking 16, I should be able to go where I want regardless! This is bigoted and unrighteous and should be changed, I shouldnt be locked into an alliance because I was an idiot and assigned the wrong race! Let alone have to relevel a toon just to get it right! #triggered #orc #procsets
In a more serious note: I didnt know that the race change token was in faction only, kinda upsetting, any idea on when we should be able to change factions with One Tam?
He is mad because his original race's faction does not contain his desired new race. Having adventure pack may have avoided this.

people don't care though, they don't believe "RACE" change counts as changing your race, they think it should only be limited to your faction.
Go figure.

It has nothing to do with immersion, mostly social politics. While I see what Xskinzcity is saying, if changing alliance becomes a thing, their [the characters] rank Alliance Rank should be set back to 1. That way, the guy who has a high rank, has to work to earn loyalty from his new alliance of choice.
Now if their ranking is reset back to Alliance Rank 1, that would also reset Assult/ Support back to 1 as well.
The question would then be, at that point, is it worth it?
See I disagree with that, just reset their running at that point, if you're first mid way through and you decide to swap alliance, the server reads you as a new person just coming in to the campaign, that simple. and idc about earning faction loyalty or the justification for it, if I want to push emp, in an optimal build a simple faction change is there and I dont need to waste the time grinding skills and levels(this is coming from someone whos maxed toons on across multiple mmos). Again I have to stress, if youre good enough to push emp for whatever reason (its something Im not keen on) why in the hell would you swap factions? That seems like an extreme case and something that would hardly show up at all. Losing alliance ranks for assualt/defense skills shouldn't happen either, at that point you should have the same thing for the regular race change as well. I change from a highelf to a woodelf (same alliance) I loose my assault and support lines as well?
Also they really should add Faction in the race change, very misleading

Social economics can be quite toxic, that can push people to change factions I have seen this before on PS4 many times and will continue to. That would be the biggest reason why people leave. It's fine if you disagree with my alliance rank/alliance skills reset suggestion, but lets be honest here. It seems only fair to the peoples of the native alliance. Having a Grand Overlord muscle in when they didn't earn the rank in that native alliance is just dumb.
However, you are correct if we're going to assume the guy with friends and number wants to push emp, he would stay in his bro-coded alliance. But let me throw a cork in that for a second, I do happen to know people I ran with that have friends on other alliances. What do you do then if he were to keep his alliance rank/alliance skills, swapped alliances on the same character then pushed for emperor as a different color? That is a pretty big slap in the face to all the people he bro-coded in his native alliance.
It's understandable you don't care about loyalty. But, you are also not everyone else out there that is fighting for you or for emperorship. I have seen my alliance get really toxic with folks who re-rolled into my faction, do you honestly think they're gonna like it when these swappers push for emp?
