Lowest of the three platforms, but still reasonably active in the evenings (NA). Pissed around on the X1 version at my brother-in-laws at Thanksgiving. Seems playable. Performance is atrocious, though. Almost a slideshow at points.

"Seems" playable. As in, anecdotal, as in my experience. As for the performance issues, those are pretty irrefutable and well documented at this point.

Thanks for the replies...I will have to do some research on the performance part...no offense but sometimes the PC crowd (I have enough mmos on my PC) can be a little judgmental towards the consoles.

Population is fine. Text chat has made it super easy to group now. Only real performance issues are during 3 way alliance battles in PvP. There's a special PvP buff called emperor, and sometimes a massive battle will happen when two alliances try to steal emperor from the other. That's the only time I have trouble is during these emperor defenses. It's super fun though. I've participated in emperor defenses on Saturday afternoon, logged out when my kids get up, then logged in Saturday night and the battle is still going on. Super fun, even with the lag and occasional DC

Performance was bad on console in July. It's running very well now. Population is very high except in out of the way areas.

The only time I had performance issues was on release day. Then I configured my router and ports properly (set to device name and mac address, not to IP). I've had very few disconnects or lag incidences since. I run the game on a 3 Mbps connection and I still have very few performance issues even in a massive PVP battle.

The game on Xbox is quite populated. Having played (past tense) 2 other MMOs regularly since 2003, ESO is far more populated 16 months after release than the other two were, combined.

If you set your network gear up properly before you start, it will be fine. At times, it seems like there are too many people playing :)

Other then the crashing issue that all platforms have in some way or another... The game runs fine.. As other have stated unless you are doing some massive pvp battles there are not really any frame rate issue.. and those large battles effect all platforms as far as frame rate and lag...

You played it over a year ago.. You can't have a understanding of the console population and performance from playing 1 day during a holiday from a year ago...

No way. Played ESO at launch on PC. Gave up the game after a few months because this game doesn't feel like a traditional PC MMO. Due to the fact that it feels more "arcade" style, starting playing it on PS4. Just feels more natural IMO. Nothing in this game makes you feel crippled w/o a mouse like other MMOS do. I've also never experienced ANY performance issues on PS4- I can't say that for PC (16gb RAM, 2gb video, 8 core 3.4ghz) PC is Lag-apalooza.

Xb1 has the highest population and I'm not guessing. Plus absolutely beautiful gameplay. Get it.
