Witchmother's Bargain Quest Bug

I have completed the quest on one of my characters. It does not work on any of my other characters.
On another character, I accept the quest. Text on the screen says I've completed the objectives. Then it says I have to collect pumpkin and guts, but the death essence is still complete. I have the pumpkin and guts in my inventory and also in my crafting bag.
I've also tried to loot guts and pumpkin from the world and still the quest will not show I have the items.
I also tried dropping the quest and starting again. Same thing.
Suggestions?
