I have done this a long time ago. I double checked my router; nothing has changed. This started happening in this new magical update you guys just flung at us.

Prior to the One Tamriel Update coming out, I had no problems at all with Logging on and Logging off as much as I could with my schedule. I know what Port forwarding is, though I had no reason to set it up as the Launcher and game were running very smoothly for me.

Then came the ONE Tamriel Update 12, instant problems. My error messages were (and still are)
"errror 303 ( 6,3,1470:2 )", which are to Server connection/busy issues. Though occasionally I will get a different error code, especially when I get disconnected from the server when porting from one area to another.

    Over the Last week:
    Sunday October 9th
Attempted 21 separate logins to get all 6 characters into the game.

Spent a total of 47 minutes 28 seconds of time to get the 6 characters from the selection screen through the login process and into the game only. ( I used a stop watch to keep it accurate.). This translates to almost 8 minutes per character, just to Log into the game only. Of course it took about 3.5 attempts ( 21/6 ) to login for each character also.

I wanted to keep on playing, though this was unacceptable to me. So I uninstalled the Game, the reinstalled it.

    Monday October 10
After logging in an getting the weekly PC update I played for a while.
Attempted 15 separate logins to get all 6 characters into the game.

Spent a total of 32 minutes 22 seconds of time to get the 6 characters from the selection screen through the login process and into the game only. ( I used a stop watch to keep it accurate.). This translates to about 5:23 minutes per character, just to Log into the game only. Of course it took about 2.5 attempts ( 15/6 ) to login for each character also.

Since then I have gone into my router and open all of the ports listed earlier. The logins seem to be much smoother taking 1-2 attempts now, though the average time to login per character is still pretty high ( over 4 minutes)

Is this severe Lag or demand issues going to be resolved soon? And would be nice to not have to validate my password again after a connection failure. How about just sending the user back to the player selection screen?

Its soo nice to hear your having no issues with the game, Altemriel. My issues are not with playing, though I have been disconnected a few times when transporting from one shrine to another.

No the issues I mainly experience are going from the player selection screen into the game. And yes, I constantly get disconnected from the server whenever I switch characters. Used to have a routine for gathering my hirelings deliveries and Doing my Master Writs for my 4 crafters. Its really hard to do now that I have to deal with these issues at each login.

Is this really a resource issue? Maybe its time for ZOS to split up the servers. Instead of the PC/MAC NA server which I login into, Maybe it would make sense to separate the PC's from the MAC's.

I have begun weeding out Addons that I can so without. Not really making a difference though in Login time. I have seen my login attempts for those same 6 characters go down, though the overall cumulative login time for the 6 remains roughly the same.

I'm spending more than double the amount of time logging into the game than I did Prior to the One Tamriel Update 12.
I've been following suggestions from both the ZOS advisors and the community, yet here I am feeling befuddled and frustrated at the lost time sitting around waiting to play.
