I still dont get what the difference is between version 1 and 2 of dungeons.

What is the actual difference between for example, Vet City of ash 1 and Vet City of Ash 2?

But what is the point of separating it? Different loot? I dont get why there are so many different versions.

City of Ash 1 is the first part of the story. The final boss is the the guy by the portal. You kill him and the wife goes through to protect the people.
City of Ash 2 is the second part of the story. The first boss is the 3 dremora in front of the portal. You follow the husband through the portal into oblivion to rescue his wife. The final boss is Valkyn Skoria on the platforms in the lava.

Before you could only do normal (city of ash 1) or vet ( city of ash 2) but now they have added a vet version to normal city of ash (City of ash 1) and a normal version to vet city of ash ( City of Ash 2).

      Is that clearer?

city of ash 1 is the old normal city of ash. city of ash 2 is the vet version. but now all dungeons have a normal and vet. even ones that already did. so now there is a normal and vet version of the normal city of ash and a normal and vet mode of the old vet city of ash. so you now get city of ash 1 normal and vet and city of ash 2 normal and vet. while dungeons like arx cornium did not have a vet mode before so there is no arx 1 and arx 2 just arx normal and arx vet. hope that helps

Ok it's starting to become clearer, but why did they do this? why have two separate vet versions? Can you get monster sets from both version 1 and 2?

So people can choose the difficulty and the story they want to play. Loot and drops are the same, yes.

All the old vet versions (now version II) had a helm set. Now all the old normal versions (now version I or in some cases the only version) have a helm set. That is 16 new helm sets. On top of that, you can earn 3-6 keys a day if you own the DLCs and 2-4 if you don't. You only get helms if you run vet mode, and you only get two keys if you do the final boss in hard mode.

Usually I can get things, lol really get it. But I dont know why they just didnt leave the nonvet dungeons as the "story" and the vet dungeons as the harder version that drops a helm.

Now we got 1s and 2s of vets and non vets nonsense. Hahahah Its comical how I just couldn't wrap my head around why. Thanks for the help for the patch notes just was not clicking with me.

We should stop using the word 'vet'. It refers to vet character levels, which don't exist anymore.

Does it still show the word 'veteran' on the map in the skoria city of ash? If it does, Zeni needs to clean that up asap.

What is vet mode now? When you get to vet level? But there is no vet level.

Considering how people come in, grind grind grind to 500 champ points as if their allowances depended on it, and then turn around all surprised that the main storyline gives skill points... OF COURSE there are people playing that have never heard of veteran mode.

Vet mode is still vet mode. It simply means the numerically harder version of the dungeon. While the term "vet dungeons" initially originated from veteran ranks, it can exist perfectly fine without them. It is simply implying the content is for "veteran players", i.e. experienced players.
Similary in WoW for example there are normal and heroic dungeons, even though there is no such thing as a heroic level it is merely a term used to describe something harder than "normal".

Way back when...there were only what we are calling "normal" versions of the group dungeons which had a storyline...then for a limited number of these dungeons they introduced a continuation of the story with what we are calling "vet" version where you could get the Undaunted Helm drop...so essentially the same dungeon but with different mobs, bosses and story to continue it, which was nice.

That normal version is what is called Dungeon 1 and the Vet version is now called Dungeon 2

Now, ZOS in its infinite wisdom chose to just not bother making any new content for the remaining normal dungeons and instead just put in a setting that allows you to switch between normal and vet (basically a difficulty level) and throw in the missing Undaunted Helms...which is cheap and lazy as the game needs new real content.

The vet setting for the old normal dungeons, i.e.Dungeon 1 (i won't call them versions anymore as it is the same dungeon and story) is now where you can get the recently added Undaunted Helm drop.

The vet setting for the old veteran dungeons, i.e. Dungeon 2 is where you can get the Undaunted Helm drops that were already in game.
The normal setting for these old veteran dungeons is flicking the switch to easy mode.

Just for kicks they added an additional "hard mode" to all these dungeons when the switch has been flicked to vet mode...which in some cases was already present as it was a pre-condition to completing a Pledge.

Are you now even more confused than when I started? I need a lie down after that.

Vet mode is still vet mode. It simply means the numerically harder version of the dungeon.

Stop right there. No, it does not mean that.

The harder version of CoA 1 is not CoA 2, even though it is numerically higher. The harder version of CoA 1 is CoA 1HM. And it gets even harder if you read the scroll of glorious battle, making it City of Ash 1, Hard Mode plus Scroll.

There's the dungeon where everything is on fire, in regular, hard mode, and hard mode plus scroll.

Then there is the sequel dungeon, where the fires have burned out, in regular, in hard mode, and in hard mode plus scroll.

And before you object, go read the patch notes again:
"Previous Dungeons which had a unique Veteran mode have been converted to Version I and II; each version now has a Normal and Veteran mode."

      https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/294849/pc-mac-patch-notes-v2-6-4-update-12-one-tamriel

It's in a transition phase, getting rid of the remnants of veteran ranks, which spread the word 'veteran' far and wide. So of course they are still using it when explaining that City of Ash (veteran) is now City of Ash 2. They're getting rid of the word, so let's stop using it.

CoA 1 hm will be more difficult than CoA 2, because of the scaling.

Okay guys really not that hard...

      Category 1: storyline
(Dungeon name) I = First story segment
(Dungeon name) II = second story segment

      Category 2: difficulty
Normal (dungeon name) = lower difficulty
Veteran (dungeon name) = higher difficulty

These two categories can mixed in any way. So, Normal (dungeon name) II is the lower difficulty setting for the second story segment. Veteran (dungeon name) I is the harder difficulty for the first story segment.

Completing a duneon for a pledge on either difficulty (normal or vet) will get you 1 key. Completing a dungeon on veteran difficulty will also cause a helm to drop from the last boss. Completing a veteran dungeon for a pledge and activating the hard mode will get you 2 keys instead of 1.

Yes, so in theory you could get 72 keys (12 chars x 6 keys per char) every day. In reallity you'll go mad when doing CoS HM for the 12th time of the day ;)
