Been trying to grind exp and quest. Exp still seems slow. Even with my scroll popped. I'm Ebonheart (NA) (XB) magicka sorc

Questing imo is the fastest way. I was able to get to lvl 50 in a couple days (2-3) "/played"

That was with no XP potions/scrolls/buffs .

Questing is NOT the fastest way!
Grinding with training gear and XP pots (super cheap ingame) takes you less than 5 hours to get to 50.

You can't buy those directly, they drop from crown crates - too rarely to be significant.

Full set of training armor, experience potions, or crown experience scrolls, and then burn through every quest in your alliance zones, while at the same time fighting every mob in your way instead of side stepping them.

Others will say pure mob grinding is faster, but i doubt that a little since turning in quests award higher amounts.

If you doubt it, you haven't done it.

I believe the XP in public dungeons in Wrothgar has been nerfed by 40% or so. Grinding in IC should therefore be better. You have to find spots, loops in the sewers, where there are lots of fast respawning NPCs, preferably ones that run at you and are easy to kill with AOE (hint: zombies). With full training gear and XP pots you will grind a level in less than 15 minutes. Ideally you should be in a group with exactly one other person, be married to that person (for 10% extra XP), have no competition and no PvP. These are admittedly hard conditions to achieve unless you play in the middle of the night. A group of two means you each get the full XP, same as soloing, but you get through the mobs quicker and therefore accrue more XP. Levelling in IC has the added benefit of levelling Fighter's Guild and collecting key fragments.

Of course, getting to level 50 is only half the story. I find the bigger time drain is quite possibly the collection of skyshards and lorebooks, not to mention levelling Undaunted. If you're still enjoying the quests, then doing those and collecting skyshards and lorebooks along the way is probably the thing to do. Personally I'd sooner not talk to an NPC ever again, since they bore me to tears. If you're like that, well then grinding is the way to go.

Don't listen to people saying quests..

Full training + mara + 1 buddy + exp potions/scrolls and run through Old Orsinium is one of the fastest ways.

Get xp gear and xp scroll or drink and go grind old orisinium, that was before the patch though there are other better places to grind now i think.

getting to lvl 50 so fast sucks though, you are so low on skills trees and skill points etc.

Best way to get a good character is to do the quests

Don't grind. You will get to 50 without skills leveled, without skill points and - most important- without knowing your char...

You end up backtracking it all over again. It's not like One Tamriel is far away for you. The scaling will level the field even more.

Just yesterday I witnessed a Level 47 winning a fight against a decent CP 400.

getting to 50 is the easy part, there are multiple ways of doing it, mob grind, dungeon grind, etc but there are more important things you should be doing as well as just leveling..

For me I folow main story line, and do all delves and public dungeons, this way you unlock wayshrines and most importantly get Skyshards, soulstones etc also if you do it right you should be picking up Mage's guild books along the way and also fighters guild, plus you get a ton of skill points from some quests.

While leveling Mages guild and Fighters guild may not seem important but you will need them at 50 and the Wayshrines too.

You could go to one spot, use potions, scrolls etc and get to 50 in like a couple of hours , but once there, you will still have to transverse the world, you will need skyshards, you will need at least major zone wayshrines unlocked., basically taking the 'easy' option of a mob grind will not help you in the end, you end up with no skill points, no skyshards

Based on the 8 or so characters I've leveled up in the past year and from similar threads:
    • Questing to 50 will take around 20 hours but has the benefit of gaining more skill points from quests and Skyshards. If you pick up Lore Books you can also advance in the Mages Guild pretty far.
    • Grinding in normal Maelstrom takes around 10 hours and has the benefit of being a solo instance so you can do it anytime without competition. This has the downside of having almost no loot.
    • Grinding in a zone can take as little as 5 hours with a partner. This has the benefit of getting lots of loot to sell but finding an occupied grinding spot for several hours can be difficult.

If you are smart with slotting skills, weapons, and armor you can get most relevant skills to 50 while you grind. If you need to level the Fighter's Guild make sure you join the guild before you grind so you can gain experience in it when killing Undead/Daedra.

Depending on what you wish to do with your character then leveling to 50 may be the least of your worries. On my latest Stam Sorc it took only 10 hours to level to 50 but then another 2 days to max Fighters/Mages guild and collect enough skill points that I needed. Add another day (or less if you're experienced) to grind PVP for Vigor/Caltrops and then a few more days grinding Undaunted. Another day for maxing crafting skills if you need them. And all that doesn't include gear grinding for whatever you need.

Right now my Stam Sorc is sitting at 4 days played and is just about to hit Undaunted rank 7.

Find a crafter or if you can, craft yourself 7 Armor Pieces with TRAINING. Then craft weapons with TRAINING. Upgrade to Purple. That is I believe 8% each piece. That is 56% more experience per mob kill. As soon as you have a self-heal, and a real good AoE, go to Cracked Wood Cave in the morning, IC in the morning and start killing stuff.
A good thing I do is when doing this, I loot everything, and sell it. Then use that gold you made and buy Psijic Ambrosias to give yourself more EXP. But this must be done in the morning. If you do it in the afternoon or Divines-forbid evening, forget it. Everyone is down there.
