Cool! Overall I love the changes too. I'm pretty sure I'm not representative of the "average" ESO customer, so since you did a "for context" list to show where you're coming from I'll do the same.OldGamerESO wrote: »I usually don't like to come to the forums because of all the hatred, negativity, trolls and wound-way-too-tight min/maxers screamers. And yep, as I look through the "Recent Posts" I see 99 percent crying and complaining. So here is a "Love the changes" post.
Isn't it awesome? Almost since launch I've been running into issues of out-leveling quests just by doing all of the content (ie. no grinding - I hate grinding). I don't think I've had a single character who didn't start having quests go grey before getting to Coldharbour. I love that I can go and do any quest now without worrying about being over-leveled for it!OldGamerESO wrote: »Suddenly all my grey and green quests are yellow! It is amazing to now be able to run quests to my heart's content anywhere I go and on any character! This is my number one most favorite thing about the changes.
Isn't that awesome? I mean, it's not super relevant for me anymore, but I remember back in the day when I did all of my medium armour crafting on a character who was below level 20, it was always a challenge sneaking to various crafting stations in higher level zones. Now it wouldn't matter!OldGamerESO wrote: »I was able to take my level 8 and easily go and get the Thief Mundus stone without waiting to level 40 since I now scale into the area.
Well, I haven't experienced that, but I've been playing a lot longer than you so I'd be pretty worried if I was getting killed regularly.OldGamerESO wrote: »The monsters around the world seem pretty hard now. For the first time in a long time I am dying pretty regularly. Last night on my level 10 sorcerer I died about 8 times.
I tried a few of them on PTS and they seemed a lot more interesting and fun now. I haven't actually done any on live yet, aside from a guild run of Wrothgar and Gold Coast ones, but I don't think those ones were changed at all. I am looking forward to going back and doing the base game world bosses again.OldGamerESO wrote: »The world bosses are no joke. I have been in some epic feeling fights around these new bosses. People /saying "this is so cool!" and "that was hard... so fun!"
I think for lower level characters they artificially boost the health more than the others in order to make them more competitive.OldGamerESO wrote: »I love seeing my stats normalized now! I always enjoyed level scaling in Wrothgar, so it is amazing to see it everywhere! I think it is scaling my health too much, but the rest looks about right.
On PTS I created a brand new character with no CPs and did the tutorial and the starter island (Khenarthi's Roost) just using whatever gear I had drop. It seemed to work out pretty well. The level of difficulty seemed about right, and long before I was done with the starter island I had a full usable set of 5-piece Trainee gear, with a couple of extra pieces.OldGamerESO wrote: »For the first time I think I can enjoy leveling alts on zone drops. No longer will I dread "upgrade night" for an alt when I used to spend hours running around crafting/ upgrading/enchanting a full set of gear for my X level alt. It was very nice to run around at level 10 and get set gear that actually mattered! Every time you loot now is an opportunity to get gear you can use rather than just filling up your bank with stuff to deconstruct.
On the one hand I love this because I'm getting max-level mats everywhere. On the other hand, I don't like it because I often craft lower level stuff for my lower level characters and for other people.OldGamerESO wrote: »I am finding so much more materials for 160 gear now. It doesn't matter what zone I go to, I can now come across mats I can actually use. My bank is filled with 1000's of mats I can't use, its about time I can get the stuff I really need. Maybe I can craft my gold 160 gear in my lifetime now.
Yeah, for me the big thing isn't so much that it's easier to get the sets that you want (although that is big), it's that every set is the right level for you!!! I love this!OldGamerESO wrote: »I love now I can find a set I am interested in and go to the right zone and stay there a for a while and usually find a few pieces. Bahraha for example is a great tanking set that was hard to find before unless you love thief guild dailies. Now you can jump into the zone, hit a few dolmans, hit the dungeons and maybe get a piece or two that you need.
That's not new - they've been doing rewards by mail for doing random dungeons for quite a while. It is nice, but I think the main reason people do random normals is to get the massive XP tick for the first one you complete in any given day (about 100K for a max-level character).OldGamerESO wrote: »I don't know if this is new, but I did a random normal with my level 10 magicka sorc and got an undaunted award in the mail of a purple level 10 lightning staff! It is exactly what I wanted.
Training is great for when you're leveling a character or leveling skills. I don't like it on gear for end-game stuff though, and I don't like prosperous at all.OldGamerESO wrote: »I don't mind the prosperous and training traits on my leveling gear, its rather useful actually. I used some undaunted keys and got prosperous and training shoulders. That is OK with me. I have the set piece I wanted and more gold and more exp/kill is always useful.
It seems like all vet dungeons got buffed with this patch, and I'm not really sure why. In my experience PUGs often have difficulty with vet dungeons, but when you group with friends and guildies you have much more success. One thing that I've particularly noticed in my main guild is that I've been running a regular weekly group dungeon event for quite a while (probably about a year), and while we often get new people participating, most of the people who come out to it are regulars. I'm at the point where if I'm grouped with any of those regulars I'm confident that we won't have serious trouble in any of the non-DLC group dungeons, even if we've got a relative newbie or two in the group. The moral of the story is that practice and knowing the mechanics really makes a huge difference, and as long as you've got a couple of experienced players, it won't take long for newer players to learn the ropes. When I started doing these group dungeon nights, most of the people coming to them weren't very experienced, but I feel like we've all learned a lot from each other.OldGamerESO wrote: »I am not sure how I will ever get any helmets though. The mechanics for Veteran dungeons are too difficult for 90 percent of groups I have run with.
Yeah, that's pretty damn cool isn't it?OldGamerESO wrote: »I love seeing so many people around! Everywhere I go there are people and it is great to get help for some of the more difficult stuff.
I don't like duels inside banks and stuff, but I don't mind seeing them anywhere else. I did a little bit of dueling on PTS, and while it's not something I was excited for at all, and it's still not really my thing, it can be fun when you're just doing it for *** and giggles with friends.OldGamerESO wrote: »The constant duels and fights in the towns add a lot of excitement to the game. I stood and watched a punching duel while people danced in Shornhelm last night. It was pretty cool!
I'm really excited about the changes to Craglorn, but I haven't checked it out for myself yet.OldGamerESO wrote: »Craglorn is really great now! I never could do the quests there or even get a lot of the skyshards, so this opens up this whole area for me. It has some really gorgeous and interesting dungeons too!
Agreed, the new glow is better than the old glow.OldGamerESO wrote: »I can now see harvesting nodes a lot better now, with that glowing aura around it. I will miss a lot less now!
So much better when you get XP everywhere!OldGamerESO wrote: »As someone who is nowhere near max CP, every bit of exp helps, especially if it is incidental to what you are doing anyway. I got a couple CP last night because now when I am working on my achievements they are always in a leveled zone. It is much more interesting to hunt down a lore book, compete a dolman, grab a skyshard or even farm for materials when everything grants great EXP!
So much better stuff in chests!OldGamerESO wrote: »The treasure chests (and dolmen chests) are yielding much better stuff now. Its always more interesting to cross your fingers and see what happens when you pick that lock.
So much better to be able to play with anyone regardless of level!OldGamerESO wrote: »I love that I can now group with my friends anywhere and at any level. And when someone asks for help with a hard situation, I know that it might actually be challenging for me to help them! Rather than port in, sneeze on the level 17 werewolf world boss and leave, now I am fighting for my life as well! Much more exciting.
