It won't, you'll need to use the same trick again. But you don't actually need to log in to NA, just confirm the toggle setting for Live, and toggle it straight back. When the Announcements changes to "European PC/Mac server", then you're connected to EU (takes about 45-90 seconds to update).I see if it remembers my option today, or I have to use the same trick all over again.
I assume they made this change so that people that played on both servers do not need two copies of the game installed. The issue you note is clearly a bug which they have said they will fix.The old launcher had that option in it, you just selected the preference server from the options. I don't know why they put the option in the game now, and made it work in such a counter-intuitive way: displays Live-EU but doesn't actually connect to it until you select Live, than Live-EU again. At least they should make the display accurate. I hate it when a program does something else than it shows. And this game does plenty of that after you log in. At least I've gotten use to that already
The reason that it's in-game now is so that you will only need one client download. Previously, you had to have an NA client and an EU client installed to play on both servers. Now, you can play on both servers with one client and get back ~50GB of your hard drive. The old launcher had that option in it, you just selected the preference server from the options. I do realise that if i go to NA I will have to start from scratch but that could actually be quite interesting.
I normally play on the EU server but if I chose the NA one - can i go back to the EU on my next launch.
I hope this makes sense!
Yes, you can play on both, by changing the launcher option. Yesterday I was very pissed off because although Live-EU server was selected, the launcher still connected NA server. It played the intro, then sent me straight to character creation window because I had no chars created there. I actually had to restart the launcher, change the option to Live, make an abortive connect to Live, then change back to Live-EU to actually make the client pick the correct server. The toggle isn't working properly IMO or it's workings are pretty counter-intuitive. I see if it remembers my option today, or I have to use the same trick all over again.
