Most shambolic patch ever?

This release seems to be very badly planned and tested. And, as always, many changes since PTS... mostly bugged.

Scaling is unevenly applied and cruel to low level players. Actually prevents doing dungeons in groups (i.e. went for a low level dungeon with my wife on one of her low levels to help out and it scaled all the way up so she was getting slaughtered due to lack of skills).
New skills are faulty (even when they worked on pts)
Many old bugs bare back (suggesting proper code control is not implemented)
Maps are FUGLY!
Awful widespread problems with launcher, folder renames, random changes of home server.

This was supposed to be the big relaunch and it feels like a recalcitrant child's school project not a triple A release by a serious company.

If you want to kill the game just rel;ease crown boxes and announce a shut down date - if not then maybe consider a little professionalism.

Yours a truly disappointed sucker...

Nah, this is worse than anything recent - this is the first time a patch has felt actively hostile as opposed to just bugged.

I'm not trying to deny anyone's complaints as invalid but this has been the smoothest content patch I've experienced so far . I think DB and SOH were much buggier .

I have actually had a pretty smooth experience from a logistical standpoint. No issues with installing patch or launcher, no long loading screens, nothing seems wildly broken from a balance standpoint. I have actually enjoyed some of the older content (normal dungeons) now that it is not a total 2-man face roll.

My issue is that I am not a fan of what they have done to gear. The monster shoulder grind is beyond insane, and the VMA loot system was not addressed. Very frustrating.

Furthermore, I worry that end game trials took a hit. There is now very little financial incentive to run them, but will need to see how this undaunted plunder plays out. I worry that people simply wont be able to afford the progression it takes to complete places like VMOL or other Hardmodes. The gold sink is very real, and PVE players are getting poorer by the minute, now that we have nothing to sell. I suppose the flipside is that there is not much to buy either...

This here is EXACTLY how I feel.

I mean patch screw ups before just felt like ... in-adeptness, no real attention to detail, ignoring customers but not for any menace, just 'unprofessional' and maybe rushed...

but this one? It REALLY DOES feel like ZoS is trying to 'kill off' the userbase to just end the game and move on (without closing servers and risking possible class actions due to cutting off paying customers, IE: breech of contracts)

The point remains that their notion of version control is....well....I'm not sure they have one. Remember when they released the wrong version of an update, shut down, and rolled it all back?

This means they have versions but not version control ;)

Basic problem is regression testing. And your test plan should include taking the release candidate and having play testers play every quest, and not just once and not just for one race and class and not just for one player level.

To even bid on a major industrial or government software control you need to be certified at a minimum SEI or ISO level and pay at least some homage to the capability and maturity model. Game companies, though, are held to no such standards much less requirements to release detailed information on their development procedures.

And for good reason. Who, beyond a small handful (more a thimbleful) of potential customers are going to base their purchase decisions on such data? Plus, most game developers don't even have an idea of what QA is. They think it's play testing. It's just where most of the industry is.

Plus so much comes down to a simple fact about consumer behavior first published by the Edison Electrical institute back in 1987 on why people hate utility companies. They concluded you cannot address this by building or improving infrastructure.

"No one notices the power failure that never happened." You're not going to notice the bug that isn't there.

Rather, the problem, they concluded, was that they were hated because customers felt the company didn't care about them. This led to all those horrid "We care!" ad campaigns by every business imaginable. And it works.

Thus, as this game is so far along now, and it's doubtful their development organization will mature, they might try showing they care. Not just the corps of community management sock puppets, but having developers get out there themselves. Because they very likely do care, and care a lot. I've worked for more than ten very large game development companies over the past 30 years and I know of only one case when the developers really didn't give a crap about their customers.

Because this is what really got to you the most: the feeling of being disrespected.

Isn't this comment a little old? Childish? Pathetic, maybe?

Console players experience almost every, if not all, issues pc deals with.

Are you that naive to assume everything is perfect for consoles?

Fair comment, you just get the same bugs months after we get them and months after they should have been fixed...

Good luck with this one it is like being repeatedly punched by someone who you thought was your friend while they claim to still be your friend meanwhile they have people go and rob you and murder you family...

ZOS is being driven by a search for profits that have nothing to do with looking after existing customers. They are not the first company to do this and will not be the last - how often do you see ads pushing discounts for 'new customers only' which leave loyal existing customers feeling they are being ignored.

I am a QA Test Analyst for a software company and have a job because the management of my company pushed so hard to introduce new revenue raising features into the software that the developers had no time to look after the base product. We have over 1000 customers paying a monthly support/maintenance fee and suddenly they were seeing things they did not like, changes they did not need or want, new features they saw no use for and a loss of the reliability that had kept them using the software for 20 years in some cases.

This is similar to what we are seeing with this game. I am sure the only reason they have PTS is to find as many major bugs as they can before release. Sure they ask for feedback, but by the time a patch is on the PTS, the actual live release dates have been set, so they are not going make major changes if PTS clients don't like things. Chances are any fixes they need to apply will be rushed anyway and not thoroughly tested because at the end of the day, they must meet delivery date at all costs!

Even if some of the developers want to improve things, it comes down to budget and the only sure fire way to bring in revenue is to sell new content.

Definitely a delay on skills. Thought it was just me. Hit the skill I'm wanting to cast, at times they fail to trigger. Outside of the skill delay, everything else appears okay so far.

Bu also I don't expect you to pay me money for a working game.
