Dueling in towns and on roadways

The EU server has been up for about 1 hour and now Belkarth, Craglorn is like a war zone. I know people are excited about dueling and I think it's fine out of towns and off the roadways. However as it is now is just ruining the game for me. I'm logging off to play Enderal, hopefully you fix this because as it is now I no longer wish to play this game.

It should add to your immersion, people always fight now they can settle the fights.

I don't have an issue with dueling, but here is one possible solution
They could make players that are in an active duel invisible to players that have dueling toggled off?

From what I have seen from the past.. duelers like attention. They fight in front of you and I am sure they are thinking "Hey look at me .. I am dueling. I am a beast".

    I hope dueling isn't everywhere.

Like other posters here have said, just give it a week or two and the duelling will soften up. And in terms of immersion, it's not even interrupting yours as people are always fighting.
If you look closely, you'll definitely see/meet/hear a lot of NPCs with their battle-scarred appearance and always asking for your help for this and that, including the Cyrodiil War. That said, why is it immersion-breaking if everyone around, NPCs and players alike, are always fighting?

Hey, at least you have Belkarth.

I'm seeing no Craglorn wayshrines at all on the NA server.

As for the core complaint, I suggest moving to another center of operations. I'd put my character all in quiet instances of starter cities....my Pact folks were based in Daggerfall, Covenant folks called Davon's Watch their home. These are no longer quiet places of course. ;)

Yeah, did it to get away from the noise and hoo-hah of swarms of players who likely won't be around next week or next month but this is a multiplayer online game after all. :p

From the duelers I have seen in the past they tend to duel in places they shouldn't, like right outside of keeps, and in front of resources. Never understood that but, from what I have seen and what I have heard in zone chat I came to the conclusion that all they want is people to watch them fight ( they want attention ).

I'm hoping it will die down in a week or so.

It was the same when they first added the justice system. Attackable NPCs barely had time to respawn before they were dead and there were people being chased by guards everywhere. Now it's not completely gone but it's calmed down a lot once the novelty value was gone.

    Come on, it is awesome.

There is a lot of people around, it feels like everyone is playing and today everyone is hyped about duels, so yeah, everyone is dueling everywhere.

Duels do not affect you though so there is no problem with that.

It affects you if you're a role-player or otherwise interested in immersion and seeing random people fighting each other all over town is not believable. If you got into a fight in town with an NPC in any single-player TES game the guards would shut it down because, just like real life, they didn't want people killing each other in the streets. But in ESO it's suddenly ok and suddenly everywhere.

    It's not a game-breaker but it's pretty distracting.

You duel outside a keep or resource so the loser doesn't need to run 10 minutes to get back to the dueling area if there are no buddies to revive them. Also has the added benefit of defense ticks for the duels, as well as having the potential for randoms to find you and join in on the duels.

There is also certainly a subset that just thinks they are cool, as you've said.

Honestly, If i want to fight others I go to PvP, if I want to relax a little I go PvE and just admire the scenery and the enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

I haven't been in the game yet, since the update, for some reason I think 20 people will be fighting in front of the bank in Glenumbra.

I'm glad the duelers get to go different places and fight but not sure I am going to like it.

Sounds like a quitting thread to me.

Obviously your aren't very perceptive then.

I agree with @Drummerx04 it will die down in a couple of weeks. I'll just play something else till then.

Zos do need to something about the auto decline toggle though because I doesn't stop people annoying you with whispers asking for a duel.

I suppose I could just add them to my blocked list but I try to limit that to "Outstanding" players.

well all craglorn wayshrines disappeared. but you can take the initial craglorn quest again and take the cart to the belkarth wayshrine. funny thing is now that you miss all the shrine you will have to turn in crafting writs in craglorn again

    I hope dueling isn't everywhere.

From the hour or so I was on today, it's everywhere. :) And I agree - for some people, it's about ego. And it's the new toy.

It can be annoying. I was trying to get the Craglorn cart and two players were dueling around it and I couldn't "grab" the cart because they kept getting in the way. Luckily, one was better than the other and the duel didn't last long. But while annoying, it's not horrible.

I think the novelty will wear off and people will either auto-decline or take their fight elsewhere. If Zeni wanted to do something about it, they could just make dueling against the law in the three factions ... and duels would have to take place away from the guards.

But then your pet would report you for dueling ...
