Has anyone else noticed the weird behaviour of the above mentioned filter recently??

I see people occasionally on the forums asking "why is that a bad word?"

However ingame the asterisks' seem to be taking over the chat bit by bit.

I noticed this first in PVP and sorta presumed they probably were bad words well because PVP zone chat and all! :p

Now I am seeing it in guild chat, zone chat, whispers etc etc.

Frequently this involves the end of one word and the beginning of the next all being blocked out.

Much as I enjoy a good guessing game, it's starting to be a bit annoying. Has anyone else noticed this or perhaps more importantly has it been mentioned here at any time and I've just missed it?

I keep the filter turned off. I hear worse working behind a bar then I usually ever see in game so it no big deal to me to keep it off.

Just turn it off - Settings>Social and check profanity filter off.

I even know people in game who don't like swearing but have it turned off because it is extremely overzealous and turns any attempt at normal text chat into an asterisk-laden guessing game :D

Also, the filter sometimes censors words that have no profanity in them lol...

Maybe because this one still would like some most obscene words to be filtered, and some not, especially when the asterisks cover not only single words but also two words divided by space - covering just few letters from first word with space and few letters from next word - which breaks the meaning of sentence.

Not sure if it's already in game, but I think the profanity filter should have few levels of profanity. Not just a switch on-off.

I turned it off it's way too strict. It was bugging me especially when it blocks innocent messages. I mean really "whisper me" gets the star treatment. Although now thinking about it i want to turn it back on and see if it likes "The pen is mightier than the sword."

This is the bit that bugged me most! Why two half words?

The worst things I have seen are degrading (racist, sexist, anti-semitic) comments that don't contain any profanity.

Oh yeah, "whisper me" is a classic that gets caught up in the profanity filter.

On my guild page there is a ts address that is partly asterisked out if a user's profanity filter is turned on, I have looked at that ts address countless times and can find nothing wrong with it, I have come to the conclusion that the ESO profanity filter knows more bad words than I do :D
