We Need The Ability To Preview Armor And Crafted Styles In Game

As of now we can preview only motifs that are up for sale on the crown store while in game we can only tell if an item will look good on our character by a small icon or if we actually craft the item making it impossible to know before hand if your character will look good or bad.

The system is already kinda developed and i just wish Zos could implement it somehow in game for all motifs or even better add a preview item option when you right click the item.

They could do it in many ways:

- add a separate new tab on the crafting table called preview items
- add preview item option upon right clicking
- add a mirror of sorts that will open a completely different ui next to dye stations
- Add a mirror item for the housing update that will let you preview w/e you want from the in game styles including dropped sets
- add a category on the collection menu called "Motif archive" that will let you browse all styles in game and will work just like the crown store one but with all styles.
- Make it even better by letting us try individual slot equipment with different styles so we can see how we will look if we combine many styles together

Those are some thoughts on how this could be implemented
please feel free to add or improve upon those suggestions

AGREE! have been frustrated about this for a long time!

I always have to go up to Eso-fashion.com to look at separate motifs, but there I can't combine them either. It would be great to have a preview option to see how it looks on you, just like trying on clothes in stores.

If that's too much, fine, but please make those icons larger! And by larger I mean a lot larger!

    Yes this is correct.

Crafters also need to be able to change the styles of gear, and ideally traits. Even if it means turning an item white and having to level it up again.

And I could do with an appearance tab. I know we have costumes, but I have some nice crafted armor which looks great but has lousy stats. I wish I could wear it as a costume instead (it's very expensive glass armor but I forgot to add traits to it by accident :/ )

I still have it but it's practically useless.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

For the styles i agree but i believe traits should not be changeable. We need to maintain some customers trying new builds ;). but if we could change the appearance of an item for some materials this would be more than welcome

I am actually surprised that isn't implemented in game yet.
They just need to kinda copy/paste the same system they have for the Crown Store.

At the moment what I do is craft the items with no Traits and no upgrade, try it on and upgrade it if I like the way I look and deconstruct the items I don't like.
It works but it is very annoying and time consuming.

Of course there is ESOFashion but I like to mix the various parts of a set for a better result and you can't do that on ESOFashion.
So a nice preview window would be very welcome.

I had suggested in the past that they could add another craft called Costume Artisan or w/e they wanted to call it for that matter but you could pay those crafters to make you a costume. this would be awesome if they could implement the motifs you know or even more by adding the option to study any item in game and make a template out of it for example dropped sets that have unique appearance or npc clothing that drops from stealing

And if possible, let us preview every armor piece separatedly in different styles at the same time. I like to mix styles together to get more personalized look and would help a lot if I could check what I would look like with Primal Body armor, Barbaric Legs and Minotaur belt before making the items.

Or traits could be changed for the gear you have crafted yourself?? But not gear achieved from other sources.

We've been asking for this too long. And the preview option is in game crown shop, therefore it's in the game engine and probably is very easy to implement.

We, the Players, want this ingame!
    When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

It would also be great if dyes would behave in a more predictable way from style to style. I can't tell you how many good combinations of gear have been ruined because the dye is dull and washed out on one but looks like vibrant, glossy plastic on another. I find myself forced to either wear all gear of the same style, stick to the few more aggressive dyes, or wear a costume to cover it up.

As I type this, I noticed how silly it sounds complaining about this in a game that offers us this much depth of customization, but hey, I've already complained about how much I hate VMA today, so I have to find a new target. :D

The above. Yesterday please. MMOs are all about communities. They're all about communities within communities. Raiders, PvPers, housing aficionados, RPers, ... they're all examples of a community within our community. It's time to allow the cosmetic junkies to be part of it too.

Definitely need a preview option, like in Skyrim.
Or at least make the little icon over the crafting item larger.
Also hide other players when previewing items in the crown store.
And before we buy a piece of furniture we should be able to preview it before we buy, instead of these tiny little 32x32 icons...

When crafting allow a preview of the gear, either a 3D model, or it actually on my toon with rotation.

Wow nice find, very organized list, and sets in this style is a bonus, lacks different material types, but at least it's undyed.

Also found some addons that help a little bit too.
