Hist Bark worth it for the dodge percent?

As the title states, is this really worth it with diminishing returns? I like what the set gets except for the last part. The more and more I look at it, I really like the Alessia Bulwark set. Anyone else have thoughts?

Yes, I do like what Tavas has to offer at the end of the 5pc, but it has no physical or spell resistance nor does it give health. Just looking for something "beefier". I'm a mDk tank. Thoughts?

It gives the same buff that other dodge powers/sets give, so. If your geting it from somewhere else it's not worth it.

However, i will tell you the old standard of Hist bark/footmans is now possible in a big way.

I ran 5 hist/4song of Lamae on my tank forever...but ultimately retired it for 5 armor master with shuffle, 2 engine guardian, 3 endurance, and 2 seducers. Stam for block, Magic for everything else. Hist is a solid set, but if you have a skill slot open, evasion/shuffle is a better should because that's 20% 100% of the time, not just while blocking.

Mate just go 5 ebon + 5 tava 1 chudan and master or maelstrom sword (defending) or 5 ebon 5 lunar bastion same as previous, or you could go 5 ebon n 5 twice born where you have the lord and the serpent mundus so you can sustain yourself better.

Both my stam tanks still use 5pc Hist Bark. They both use Endurance 3pc jewelry and Seducer and until last week I had them using Engine Guardian sets. I switched them over to the Chudan monster set for the boost in spell/physical resistance on the weekend (since the helm came up on golden vendor) and am giving that a try. They are both strong enough with stamina maintenance being the only thing i really have to worry about - which is why Engine Guardian was good.

I think these threads need to split up crafted sets and dropped sets - Armour Master, Tava, Footman or Ebon might work well by comparison but these are not readily available to all players. Even TBS is not easily available to most players unless they can get someone to craft it for them due to the length of time it takes to learn 9 traits.

While Hist bark doesn't have diminishing returns other than the fact it doesn't stack with any other form of major evasion its not really a set to aspire.
As you can get the same effect by using shuffle you can then use tavas favor to further advance your ulti regen. Dont worry about resistances. With a reinforced chest plus shield you get ~25k resistances then add spiked armor and a bs proc and you are already well over the cap.
Also if i remember correct tavas has a health bonus together with a stam and mag regen.

It wasn't for the longest time because other sets were simply better. The crazy ulti gen with Tava's and such.

Now, you have options. You can go crazy ulti gen, maximum mitigation with footmans/histbark, there are now quite a few options.

Nirnhoned chest and shield will give more resistance than reinforced if available.
Tava's is craftable.
If you cannot afford/ obtain ebon/ alkosh then other easier to obtain sets are mephalas hand and mazzatun from cradle of shadows/ ruins of mazzatun respectively. Also the new witchman set coming will be nice option.
Mephalas is very nice as it should give a high uptime of minor fracture which is tricky to keep up without a stamplar tagging everything with power of the light.
The mazzatun set and witchman give resources back when you drop low on health/ use ultimates. (Infact witchman on a dk tank with battleroar will be pretty broken op imo)

Personally I think there are better sets, as has been pointed out running evasion/shuffle can be more effective.

Personally on my stam tank I run 5 Ebon/5 Pariah/2 Alessia's. The ebon nice for trials boosting others HP, and the Pariah 5 piece buffs my resist back up to cap if I am debuffed and take any damage.

As a DK tank your best choice is usually to build with a stamina-focus and use Shuffle from Medium Armor. Hist Bark alleviates the high cost of Shuffle and affords the luxury of not dropping block to maintain Evasion (if it's on the primary bar you wouldn't need to drop block either, but it's usually an off-bar skill). However, the necessity to eliminate dropping block for this small amount of time to re-cast Evasion is almost exclusively reserved for hardmode bosses and vMoL, whereas nothing else is punishing enough to kill you during a re-cast.

Hist Bark is not the optimal set choice for non-hardmode trials, and even doing veteran trials (just not hardmode) usually merits an ultimate-regen setup to assist in expediting the clear for your group. Since you're a magDK, chances are you're either putting more into stamina than you're letting us believe, or you can't afford to run Shuffle, which means Hist Bark may be a good option for you.

It's not the optimal setup, but you also don't need an optimal setup for the overwhelmingly vast majority of content in this game. Even the best tanks I know are doing something that isn't "optimal," and who cares really? Do what you want and do it well.

In short, no. A single skill every 20+ seconds gives you that buff.

Go with Tava's as your crafter 5 piece. Ebon is a good 5 piece to run with it. Dragon too.

Just saw you're a magica Dk. Resistances may not be a big deal as you can heal yourself quite a lot. For dungoens you'll be fine with reaistances under cap.

You want bloodspawn as a two piece no matter what. More ult gen = more sustain.

Leaning towards Tavas as I read all the great comments. What I am now:

311 mDk tank

Run 2 Willpower, 3 Knightmare, 3 Morihaus, 2 rings of Shadow Dancer.

With food it's:
30k magicka (1137 recovery)
26k health (643 recovery)
14k stamina (638 recovery)
26k spell resist
29k physical resist

Tava's is craftable if you have the DLC - it is not craftable for everyone playing the game. I have never ventured beyond the initial city in Hew's Bane so have not found the crafting station or investigated how good it is.

Maybe these discussions need to further broken down into base game and DLC availability on top of craftable and non craftable.

It's still craftable, if you don't have the dlc find a crafter that does. Much easier to find a crafter and farm some mats than grind out a dropped set

I'm literally at 7 or 8 for each piece of armor and none are Ninhoned, lol. I'll need to grab those pieces, research and go Tavas. Any of you run the Tavas with Blood Spawn and are a vampire??? As a mDk, I'm thinking the Bat Swarm heal ultimate would rock? Thoughts?
