What are valid uses for 'Disband Group'?

I have recently hit several times by leader disbanding the group before I even got to dungeon. I'm interested why this functionality in the game at all, and what are supposed uses for it. IMHO 'Leave Group' is sufficient, because everyone decide for themselves if they want to stay in the group. 'Disband Group' makes decisions for others. This is particularly bad in dungeons, where one person could ruin experience for everyone. What if I want to stay with my friend and loot boxes in dungeon after completing it? Nope, 'Disband Group'.

    Because it gives people the chance to be a ***, rage quit and tell everyone how mad they are....other than that not much.

    tanks running bows and pugs rp'ing as corpses is a good reason to disband.

    Leaving the group would work as well, isn't it? Why disband?

    Its a good option for fast regroup, when you restart/rerun trials and dungeons. There's even an addon to make it more convenient, it invites everyone again.
    For example, we're farming WGT to get spell power cure set and whatnot. No one got the drops during this run, and we're going for another run. Group leader disbands and instantly reinvites. Everyone is teleported outside the dungeon and can now enter it again. Its more convenient than asking everyone to leave, cause its just 2 clicks.
    Speaking of rude people in pugs, it is and will always be like this. There's always people that would abuse any of the game's features. If you want to minimize the chances of this happening, join a guild or play with friends.

    How about...all leave... change difficulty to normal and then vet and boom it's reset straight away.

    No problem if it is voluntary, but I have never seen such case in the game. Probably there should be vote on disband (F - agree, E - disagree).

    You've never seen a group disbanding just to reset the instance and restart it, regrouping straight away ? Lucky you, you've never done much gear hunting ;-)
    We also used it all the time back in the (not that old days) when deaths in trials and VDSA were limited to 12/24/100. It's irrelevant now but it used to be extremely relevant. Practising a trial required the whole group to restart several times during the evening due to deaths (or better said, rezz) limitations.

    While I am all for respect and taking everyone's opinion into consideration, I don't think the game should implement voting systems all over the place. If you need that, then you're not running with the right people. Get yourself a guild or a group of friends and you won't need to vote at all.

    I would disagree with calling the disband functionality "irrelevant". My group spent a few hours last night disbanding and regrouping every 10-15 minutes since we're going for no-death runs.

    Disband is a really useful feature, especially combined with addons such as Auto Regroup.

    You can now just set the group to normal (groupleader has to be outside the dungeon) and back to veteran to reset any dungeon/trial. :wink:

    In this case it's probably a bug of the group finder, not the group leader's decision.

    Well... There's a bug that disbands a group so probably thats what happened to you.
