PC NA TrueFlame - Alessia Bridge

Why does it always seem like all the main fighting takes place here between EP and AD? Every time I have PvP'd .... EP swarms/zergs/overruns the bridge and AD just stands at the bottom of it and a looooooooooooooong fight ensues. If AD doesn't defend it then Alessia will fall.

Then there is usually a group of about 4-10 DC that show up and gank ......

It seems to me that a PvP map as large as Cyrodil is should involve more than a fight or 2,3,4,5,-29 EVERY SINGLE DAY at the same location no matter what.

AD wants to push SEJ or defend Alessia. They don't want the bridge. EP however always want's bridge. You see the water is a natural boundary that marks where AD territory ends and EP territory begins. Its like the Ohio River separating Kentucky and Ohio. Go figure right..

I hate the bridge, I hate the bridge, I hate the bridge! If AD have enough numbers to keep EP from pushing beyond the bridge then they have the numbers for a proper defense of Alessia. People also dig the bridge because it's a quick, reliable fight to get to. If AD has Alessia, and EP has Sejanus, players on both sides can arrive there and get into a fight very easily. It doesn't take long to ride there, and when you die, you just res up and ride back.

This has a particular appeal, I believe, for solo players, small groups, and newer/not yet organized clumps of players, all of whom deal with death pretty frequently. Disorganized but adjacent swaths are not going to want to ride up to Bleaker's or whatever.

(I'll take my people to the bridge if we're just getting started and need to warm up, if we've been riding around a lot / otherwise need to blow off some steam, if there's a particularly juicy mass of enemies congregated thereupon, or if the pugs have been tied up there for a while and we want to encourage them to go somewhere else :])

that's not entirely true. typically the way it goes is:

    1. EP takes the bridge and AD comes to try and push the bridge
    2. a fight ensues
    3. EP pushes AD to Alessia FD
    4. Most EP fall back to the Bridge and wait for AD to come back
    5. AD comes back and the process repeats

EP wants the Bridge fight and nothing more.

I agree with you, but what if one day there were no AD coming to feed the farm? What if the AD stayed back and forced EP to come and get them? Sorry just lost in a dream...

I'd like some others who are skilled in matters of war to engage me in Socratic dialogue about this issue of whether it is ever strategically advantageous for AD to hold the bridge.

Yes, we can all agree that fighting mindlessly on the bridge is almost always not a strategically impactful activity. Perhaps 100% of the time.

However, consider this unlikely scenario: There are three organized AD groups on the map and two of these groups are heavily engaged in defense of keeps like Ash and, say, Black Boot. The third AD group has 18 souls and unfortunately, were just wiped by a large, semi-organized 40+ EP pug zerg at Sejanus.

After securing Sejanus, drinking a large glass of mead and abusing their argonian slaves, the EP zerg travels at a velocity of 5 meters per second towards the Allessia bridge.

Having respawned at Allessia, this 18 person AD group is considering three options, knowing that they need to buy time until other AD groups become available:

    1. Stay in Allessia and defend against the incoming zerg. The hope is that the EP zerg potatoes up to the front door or otherwise die, and do not setup an effective siege line on one of the walls of the keep.
    2. Get setup on the bridge before the EP Zerg reaches it. Hold the bottleneck as long as possible until EP breaks through, and then turn to defending Allessia from inside walls.
    3. Dragonclaw

My thought is that in this uncommon/rare scenario, option two would be preferable and provide more time for AD reinforcements to arrive at Allessia. Option 3 follows in close 2nd. However I am very prepared to be mistaken! Seriously, I may be totally wrong.

Personally I find the alessia bridge fight useful. If my group is needed on 2 fronts, I can just let all the AD fight/die on the bridge and keep the EP busy there forever, while I go over to the DC side of the map and defend against DC, knowing that the bridge is in safe hands. Once I'm done with DC and the DC decide to push chalman instead of fighting us, I'll go grab sej or BRK bringing an end to the endless alessia bridge fight which in turn then unleashes the build up of AD that storm off in a northward direction and before you know it EP are pushed back to arrius. #Green alliance.

Like it or not, that bridge is one of the best sources of AP in Cryodiil. You can generate a lot of AP in a 2 or 3 hour sustained bridge fight. Also when I'm doing those kill 20 of some kind of enemy players bounty, I can usually complete that in less then 15 mins at the bridge, (5 mins for Templers and NB).

Tonight was a perfect example of the bridge being a distraction NA-TF. AD does not have the numbers to spare on the bridge prime time. It's unfortunate because I think our players want to fight without getting zerged and honestly it can be fun.

The trouble is for groups pushing the objectives and keeping an eye on the score, any non- grouped support is tied up at the bridge when we try to make a move. DC did not have that problem tonight.

My challenge to AD is, let's take that same fight somewhere else where it will benefit the faction. Trust me there is nothing more satisfying than reclaiming Brindle, Drake, or even ruffling feathers further north.
