If I race someone to a farm node they win.
If I race someone to a PvP target they win
I win some, I lose some. I have fun.

Most Aussies I've chatted with are either exclusive PVE, or if they do Pvp its only in the sewers or ganking. (Myself included). We simply can't engage in a fair fight with 500 ping.
I actually quit, along with about 20 of my friends after about three months of ps4 launch. We would hide in Black water to avoid the lag as best we could, but even then your ping is always going to have you at a huge disadvantage, and we ended up growing tired of it.
For the record; All of my friends who quit, did so because of Pvp performance. We still talk about the game together, and wish we could play on a JPN server.
Two of us came back when we were (mis)informed about Japan server launch about two months ago.
I've stuck around for some group PVE, and occasional sewer gank.
I PVE to PVP. So with the fact that I can't even step into Cyrodiil without lagging off the map, I'll probably be on my way out soon too.
Japan/Oceana server would have been awesome, and could have been heavily populated back at console launch. Unfortunately I fear that ship has sailed. It would be quite a task to convince people to come back, even with a local server.
500 ping gaming is not fun.

Bad excuse for a bad player, don't blame your ping for you not being able to react quick enough in a fight.

More zerging
less overall battles in Cyro
etc.

I've been hearing " the eso community is dying" and "the game is dying" since launch. What I'm trying to say is, that what you're experiencing is probably an illusion. Yes the people you know are leaving the game and etc. but that doesn't mean the numbers of total players are decreasing. Everyone from NA thinks the pvp community is dying because all the "hard core" players quit. But they don't realize how much bigger the zergs and groups have been becoming.
