Further Unresponsiveness Issues

Since coming back to ESO after a few months off in Feb, I've noticed that skills and weapon swap is slower and more unresponsive than it was before. I'm curious if Zenimax has done this on purpose or if it's a side effect of a bug.

If it's intended why did they do it?

It's a pretty big issue for me because I'm not a macro user so I have a lot more keys to press and it seems the game's timing process is very inconsistent at the moment (and for the record, I think it's stupid that macros are allowed but I don't think it's cheating) so responsiveness effects me more than some, and second my ping as an Australian user sits at a constant 250 - 300 ping which has always had its issues, but now more than ever.

If anyone has any info on this or has a similar experience I'd love to hear it.

I always have trouble swapping my bars. And for me sometimes abilities don't come out when told to (looking at you crystal frag).

Don't you love it when you think your toon swapped their bars to use an ability on the second bar but come to find out you used the most costly ability on your original bar.. Because your character didn't swap when told and they think your weapon swap idea is bologna! My room mates must wonder who tf this Sera person is because I yell at her quite a lot for not being obedient. Lol. I yell at her quite enough that whenever I screw something up in real life I caught myself saying "Sera you're an idiot." When I mess up on my nail polish. I am so conditioned to blaming her for everything lol.

I tested how many clicks it takes for my character to switch bars and it got up to around 5 or 6. And I wasn't pressing anything else, just standing at the AD base in Cyrodiil clicking and counting away.... Glad to know its not just me.

happened to me a few times. Best way to use second bar ability is to press the button only after mid-swap animation. I think pressing skill before a certain point might cancel the swap.

It seems for me it's a fairly recent thing. My bar swaps sometimes were quite laggy, but now they just purely don't work and skills not going off... omg I think during my recent maelstrom attempts I learned a few new swear words. In PvP it's pretty much reducing me to a position of having to follow other players around because I can't get skills off to survive long and in PvE my rotations are so bad my dps is crap and my tank sometimes dies because I can't heal myself.

It was never this bad before, what the hell happened?

Thanks xellink for that info, that could be one of the reasons but it's definitely not the only issue. I'm also talking about skills on my current bar.

What kind of macros are helping with weapon swaps, and since when are they allowed?

I've noticed lag with skills in the last week that wasn't there before. I am also experiencing regular disconnects from the server.

I believe the naga mouse offers macros through its programming, and it's allowed because there's nothing they can do to stop it, or even detect it as far as I can tell.
And it helps because the people using them don't need to consider human error after programming the macros like other players who may make mistakes (which is part of playing the game as far as I'm concerned). So there will be no timing issues on going from a main damage ability into an execute, animation cancels can be tested and refined and the player never has to worry about practising to get timing right. It becomes less about skill and more about setting up a your combinations and never worrying about them again.
    As I said, I don't think it's cheating but I don't agree with it.

I doubt this kind of macro is of any advantage. My Logitech offers the same feature, but in the end the button presses from the macro won't help with a laggy weapon swap. I haven't had issues with swapping recently but remember times when it was not responding at all and than came up with every command at once.
It sounds like your issue may be related to the 250+ ping I'm afraid.

Have to agree, weapon swap is a real problem. I find it worse as the Lag rises.

Also have a problem doing light/heavy weave as well, but this is only in PVP and we never expect the lag to go away there.

250+ ping is normal for all Australian users, I've been playing with it since launch in 2014 and it has never been like this before (a problem sure, but when lag hits it affects everything not just specific actions). Movement is fine, other actions work like roll-dodging which still negates the damage so it's not lag as such, but skills and weapon swap just fails to work.

Negating human error always gives an advantage I'm afraid, significantly reducing all miss-click opportunities is a definite advantage. But that's beside the point, I stated macros were not part of my gameplay which means I'm more interested in what is causing this and I'm not convinced it's purely lag simply because other things do work.

I mentioned my ping due to it being a factor in when I hit my keys; if there's a certain timer (bug or not) that's been implemented between skill usage or weapon swap it'd simply be nice to know. I'm wondering if xellink's answer applies to skills as well as weapon swap at this point, it seemed the closest to what I'm (and by the sounds of it others too) experiencing.
