How do you make a private guild bank on PC?

Note: This is about PC specifically. Creating 9 fake accounts to fill out guild slots is not an option because that would require purchasing another 9 copies of the game.

Every time any type of discussion about inventory space comes up I see people saying it's not an issue because you can just make a private guild and use the 500 guild bank spaces to store your stuff. Some people even suggest that you could devote all 5 guild slots to the purpose (although I seriously doubt anyone sincerely expects someone to sacrifice being in a real guild simply to fix a storage problem).

How does this work in practice though? My understanding is that a guild only gets a guild bank if there are at least 10 members and I doubt most people could find 10 people willing to give up a guild slot to enable someone else to have a private bank. Sure you could share it and somehow memorise which items are yours and which are everyone else's, but doesn't that cut it down to 50 slots per person instead of 500? (Which would still be an improvement, but all these posts specifically say you'd get 500 slots to use yourself.)

I would buy eso plus aka craft bag and make alt character for the banking purposes. That's what I do right now.

Actually, before I joined 2 new guilds in the past 2 days, I had 2 guilds where nobody logged on, and I was the only person who was online with Guild Bank Permissions. So basically, I had 1000 free bank slots. I never used them though.

To do this, you have to either create 10 accounts, or you need to find a guild started by new players, and then hope that they leave the game, which really sucks to see. In the time between you finding new guild, and them leaving game, you need to get guild bank permissions, which shouldn't be too hard because they tend to be brand new players and willing to hand that stuff out.

It's happened to me twice, but it really sucks logging in every day, checking out the guild list, and seeing you being the only person online for 2+ weeks.

Create a guild, start inviting randoms in the starter areas. Those that keep playing will eventually leave. Some of those new people wont log in again for ever after a few days, they will keep the slots filled.

There's plenty of "dead" guilds out there.

One of the guilds i belong to only has one other active member and over 100 that haven't logged in in months.

Right, so there's no way to actually make a 1 member guild with a bank like in some other games. That's the part I was missing.

So does the guild keep access to the bank if their membership drops below 10? Or do you specifically need to find people who will stay in the guild but never log in to the game?

No, you need to have at least 10 to access the bank. However, none of the other nine have to be active, they can all be inactive accounts as long as they didn't leave the guild before going MIA.

Just to clarify, if the guild membership drops below 10 you'll still have access to withdraw items you just won't be able to put any more in until the membership gets back up to 10.
