Note: This is about PC specifically. Creating 9 fake accounts to fill out guild slots is not an option because that would require purchasing another 9 copies of the game.
Every time any type of discussion about inventory space comes up I see people saying it's not an issue because you can just make a private guild and use the 500 guild bank spaces to store your stuff. Some people even suggest that you could devote all 5 guild slots to the purpose (although I seriously doubt anyone sincerely expects someone to sacrifice being in a real guild simply to fix a storage problem).
How does this work in practice though? My understanding is that a guild only gets a guild bank if there are at least 10 members and I doubt most people could find 10 people willing to give up a guild slot to enable someone else to have a private bank. Sure you could share it and somehow memorise which items are yours and which are everyone else's, but doesn't that cut it down to 50 slots per person instead of 500? (Which would still be an improvement, but all these posts specifically say you'd get 500 slots to use yourself.)
