ESO: Future Second Life

The way ESO is heading makes me think eventually it will be more of a world sim instead of an RPG. People are already clamoring for children, so whats next?

Will there eventually be a way avoid pve/pvp altogether and just focus on economy/life type simulation? Crafting, farming, and living your days as something other than an adventurer? Aslong as people have the coin I can totally see that becoming a thing.

That is actually the exact part I was thinking on when I mentioned the intro vids.. They said it was possible.. Horrible horrible lie :'(

hmmmmmm.... now that you mention it, I DID log in to ESO the other day & just hang out.
I played with my clothes, went for a walk, went fishing, took some pictures... pretty much the same stuff I'd do in SL.
    :D

Well, with future PSVR and Oculus integration it seems people will definitely start migrating to a better life online soon.

it depends, currently, on how you are defining progress i think. perhaps with player housing we will be able to craft more stuff and maybe a patch of land to grow food and herbs, maybe raise guar or something.

    i can dream....

It is to be expected that Elder Scrolls fans play this, and the franchise have a lot of things that I imagine you would consider to be part of a "sim game". These features are never really expanded upon, however, so I think you can rest easy.

Having children npcs in the game would at least make some sense of some quests. You know, the quests that involve families, "go rescue my kid" kind of quests, where everybody is fully grown?
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

People have actually done this. A character has reached level 50 as a pacifist.

yes.... but you could still have quests for progress. make stuff for the guilds or local leaders. craft stuff for npcs generally.

That would maybe level you up, in about a 1000 years.. and you would still face the problem of skill points

Yeah, I would actually think it takes too long to lvl on Writs and Chests.. And, again, the skillpoints is lacking

You know I don't think he made it to CP 160 and Emperor in PVP... But It is possible to get skillpoints by just collecting Skyshards and using invisibility pots to circumvent mobs. You can literally run through them if you know how to alchemy ;) (and thats hardly a difficult craft to master)
BTT: I would love to have some options that are a bit non violent ingame to progress as character. Maybe plant some things... etc...

Open world skyshards in one Tamriel will give enough, it can be done as peaceful shy pacifist. You need about 100 points to max out all crafting, 50 (?) from leveling, about same from all zones but Cyrodiil and Coldharbor(if it is quest locked). Plus some XP from exploration.

I do hope housing would be expanded with some gardening.

I think you can get 113 skill points from skyshards alone.

My main crafter has leveled at least twice without doing anything but writs, and you can get xp from just riding around and unlocking locations- but I think it would take forever.

As for the retirement home being offered to my weary adventurer, I'd rather see the effort invested in a new zone with 20+ quests and new dungeons. But if ZOS thinks it's time to put our feet up by the fire, so be it... They probably won't see any of my crowns for it.

That's all well and good :) But for RP reasons, it won't work as well.. That's why, at launch, I hoped we could quest as crafters.. Like an apprenticeship or something.. A standard blacksmith would not be super likely to go trotting off to a dungeon to look for a magic crystal
