Get off of my siege!!!!

Please fix this. It's probably more of a problem at BWB than other campaigns but I have seen this as a problem in Azuras as well.

Let players have the option of making siege bound. It's bad because a lot of players that are new get yelled at and some of them really don't know they are taking someone else's siege. Also for players dropping multiple sieges, it helps them keep track of the ones they dropped.

I agree with some. But most important I agree about seige should be toggled. (Bound in some cases)

However. I actully want others to use my seige. It helps greatly. Least in my opinion. I also fully understand others not want anyone use there seige. It's your seige. It's your rules. But again I not mind others use mine.

i often happy if someone with no sieges uses 1 of mine, i carry 10 at all times. some forget to bring or dont know how to buy them. if ppl r idly waiting for a wall to fall thats worse.

I also think that it is good if someone else uses my siege, especially if they don't have one. Walls go down faster and everyone is happy. And no one else can store your siege so I don't see any problem about people using each others sieges.

The people responding are cool and reasonable about it. But I've seen players get irate over it, yelling at the person that does it. I see this at almost every large siege in BWB.

I think there are two 'noob' positions when it comes to siege. The first is being a siege thief, and the second is allowing it to bug you.

When someone steals my siege, I tend to think "good, now I can actually fight while he/she sieges for me."

Locked siege would be too exploitable.

The problem is they usually start firing the siege at the wrong thing.

There are two problems with locked siege: real estate and siege limits. Locking siege would enable malicious players to nullify both offensive and defensive siege attempts.

The original implementation of forward camps was exploitable in a similar way. Malicious players would place 'troll camps' in locations that were inconvenient and would prevent the placement of legitimate, convenient camps. It was a regular thing that resulted in the removal of camps from 1.5 to 2.3.

It's annoying, but hardly catastrophic when someone steals siege. The best advice is to let go and have fun. Losing one's sheet over siege is counterproductive. This is life in a game with only 'public servers'.

I can imagine more nuanced solutions, but I have no faith in ZOS to allocate the resources necessary to properly implement them. The tiny adjustments made to FCs took about a year and a half to implement. A viable solution to siege theft would probably take five years.

Main issue with this idea: Siege limit. Let me go ahead and bind my siege to me and lay down 20 in the most useless spots, pointing in the wrong direction and nobody can do a darn thing about it because they're mine and I say where they point and how many of them there are.

I also personally lay down siege and encourage others to use them. My typical siege setup is laying down a diamond of 4 trebuchets and if someone wants to operate 1 or 2 of them, less running around for me without losing consistent firing of them. That said, yeah I got a bit irate that one time when the cold-fire ballista I'd been carrying around for 4 months and maintaining with repair kits got jacked by someone and they sat on it right up until an enemy burned it but it happens and at least they made use of the darn thing.

It is very annoying when someone decides to steal my stone treb and then start firing at 1 random guy on the wall.

This is a really simple fix. All they need to do is update Siege so that only the person that deploys it can use it. Siege would then still be tradable and given to any player needing it. We then wouldn't have these lifeless trolls on their alts taking siege away from other players turning them away from enemies.

The solution has already been posted.

    From https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/3356686/#Comment_3356686 :

“10K AP each for a slot-able siege guardian that keeps other members of your faction from stealing your siege. The guardian should look and act like Aunt Esther from 'Sandford and Son' and chase down any would be thief for up to 40 meters, 15 seconds, or 2000K damage with her 150 damage per hit purse bash, whichever comes first.

I really haven't given it much thought to be honest.”

The only time it is truly annoying that someone took your siege is when your emperor. You'll be operating 4 trebs and a pug will come and sit on one so you set down more and more pugs come and use them, which isn't that bad but when you reach the 20 siege cap and the emperor isn't using some of that siege it's like... leave the emperor siege alone! haha. Emperors should have a passive that allows them to kick people off their siege lmao.

I'd be ok just to make siege aim locked. Yes it's annoying when you roll out of counter siege, or step back to heal and purge and someone jumps on your siege (annoying as hell actually). But it's even worse when they do it and then aim at the wrong wall. Or at NPCs.

On general principles I have to say..........................

    I'm touching your siege!
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Those 20 siege are going to start decaying really quick when you are the only one who can us them. And you can already put a lot of stupid siege types in stupid spots. If your scenario were going to actually be a problem, we'd have seen it by now. But in my year of PvPing, I've only had the annoyance of some idiot getting on my siege and aiming it at the NPC guards walking by on a stupidly frequent basis.

    Siege possessiveness is stupid.

If the wall goes down quickly, it doesn't matter if you did it by yourself, or if ten people chipped in by jumping on the sieges you set up. You get no personal bonus for doing it solo, so no one is "stealing" anything, and the wall goes down quicker, with less effort, so it's a win-win.

The scenario was more to make my point. Of course you don't need to have all 20 bound to you for bound siege to be a hindrance to the goal, and you can avoid decaying simply by getting on it and then off it again. Yeah, people could easily troll the siege limit already, and I don't condone the 'jacking' of siege, but at least if someone does that right now you can in fact 'jack' their siege and make it point in the useful direction. Bound siege would completely negate that option.

I do understand people's frustration with their siege being used by other people but I see both sides of the coin so I am not so naive to think that simply "binding" siege would be any better a solution. I'd far rather educate the siege thieves than scream at them as if I were talking to a wall.

If it's plain old stone trebs or fire ballista, I don't mind as long as they're hitting stuff intelligently.

    It bothers me when:
    -Someone takes my coldfire
-Someone hits a wall with a fire ballista, or people with a stone treb
-I've put down 2 and I can run between them to man both, except someone's taken my other one and there's no more space to stick new ones. Again, this would be fine if the person who took my one siege, would just operate both and I could do something constructive with my time.

Imo all siege should have toggleable options:
    -Open to everyone
    -Open to party
    -Open to over rank xxx
    -Open to player only
