Is it worth starting over on pc

I played alot on PS4 and loved it but I bought PC a couple months ago and I enjoy PC gaming way more than console now. And I hear eso is better on PC and the community is bigger?

Anyway I miss eso and want to return, should I pick up where I left off on console or make the switch to PC?

Edit: sorry if this is the wrong spot to post this.

How far along are you on console? CP points? traits research? crown items purchased? dlc purchases? and/or mount speed?

Cp was between 270-275. I was 7 trait clothing and 5 -6 in everything else. I spent the majority of crowns on exp scrolls, I also bought two costumes , and any race any faction, I was subbed so I didn't buy anything else. Mount speed was maxed.

Hmm... your investment, time-wise, on console is moderate, but it probably wouldn't take too long to get to that point if you started on PC. Money-wise, it's also not that bad. You'll just be missing out on a few costumes.

I've been considering starting over on PC lately as well, so these are the thoughts I've been having:

-the cost of buying the base game on PC would be as low as $20 (there's a gold edition that comes with the 4 dlcs, but I would rather sub than buy the dlcs - crafting bag + costume dyeing)

-I would no longer have to pay for PS plus to be able to play ESO, which would save me some money (I've heard the ps plus price will be going up next year).

-PC version has really convenient mods, like skyshard locations, market price look up functions, etc. Bethesda's mods for skyrim and fallout 4 were recently rejected by Sony, so having mods on ps4 for eso is not only out of the question dev priority-wise but also sony-wise.

-with one tamriel, leveling up a new character to 50 will be painless and maybe a little fun.

-however, I've heard that the PvP community on PC is more cruel than on consoles b/c they have macros and cheat engines, and PC players are probably more elitist b/c they've been around longer and have more technologically committed players

-console tends to have more young people. pc probably older (this would be a good thing for me, but depends on the person), and console has voice chat, but for pc you'd have to use an external software like Team Speak or Ventrillo

One more thing... being a regular forum-goer... I question the longevity of the game right now. The game is severely unbalanced, and the devs seem to ignore or dismiss any constructive feedback from the player base. Over time, they've had questionable money-grabbing tactics, and the implementation of loot crates seems to really be a tipping point for many. It might not be the best time to come back. ; P (says someone who has still considered starting over, because she believes that the devs will get things right eventually, even if it's not until 2017.)

Yea I've heard how devs ignore the players and the money grabbing, but I still loved the game.
I was hearing it was supposed to be more balanced with DB's release but it appears I was misinformed. I admit I hadn't been keeping up with the game since I stopped playing in May. It does make me wonder if it's worth it, because I would hate to start over, if it's getting worse.

I'm with you, hoping they get it right eventually. I personally feel eso still has the potential but it's up to the devs.

    ARE YOU CALLING ME OLD?

Really those are (mostly) good points to think about. I heavily prefer PC gaming, and although I did have a chance to transfer my account to PS4 (and I did) I still enjoy the game on PC. Addons are a great addition and it's really just where I'm more comfortable.

If you enjoy ESO and the MMO schtick in general, why not? It doesn't really take that long to get back to CP 300+ if you play most days. The only crappy part is losing all of your purchases. ZOS really needs to allow account copy cross-platform. : /

@MissBizz xD It's so subjective. I'm 27 ys/o. I just might be older than you. I'd rather play with people my age, which is why I think PC might be better for me.

On PS4, it's really awkward when I pug a dungeon or something and I hear a 12 year old on the mic. I thought ESO was for 18+. -.-

@Pandorii I like this idea of you being older than me. Let's go with that.

Also, you'll get your fair share of "kids" on PC as well. It's just harder to notice because it's mostly text chat ;)

    Awesome thanks!

I was mainly AD and dabbled in DC on PS4, So I'll most likely go AD or DC this time around as well.

I'd like to know if it is easy to hook up the PC to the TV? I have a gaming laptop but have never tried to use my TV as a monitor. It has a HDMI port so would I just hook an HDMI from the laptop to the TV and would I be able to play ESO like that? I'd set up the xbox controller instead of mouse and keyboard but wondering if I'd run into any issues? I have considered purchasing the Alienware Alpha to play ESO because the mods for skyshards , quests, crafting, etc. are so much better on PC.

you see to me, youre a kid so I could say the same about you. In fact I could have a son/daughter your age!.

You get younger and older players on all platforms. My 11yr old plays on pc and ps4.

don't let your perceived demographics cloud your decision.

I think you will get a lot of arguments from all camps about why their system is better and certainly reading the forums, I see issues across all.

as for starting over? depends on how much time you want to sink.

With One Tamriel I've thought about starting over on PC but I have a few Xbox friends I still play with. It's really about how much time you have. You'll be able to bounce around different content once One Tamriel launches which will break up the pace. I also have a ton of Crowns sitting in my account from when I was subbed on PC. You could buy a few XP scrolls to help boost you through the content.
I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.

If you enjoy character building, starting over is not a big deal. If you can't wait until end game, then you might go insane trying to grind your way there. The PC add ons do make it a completely different experience as well, and I highly recommend them.

Might also need to fiddle around with your playback device settings (speakers or TV) when you switch it to TV.

I'm on PC because I don't see the point of buying a specialized gaming console, as I also use it for some other purposes. The PC community is probably bigger and more diverse than console, inferring from the prices of certain goods on guild stores - smaller more constrained markets are more prone to price spikes and generally higher prices. As for age, I'm 33. I've been playing TES games for 13 years, starting with Morrowind, but this is my 1st online game. I don't have any hard data on the age of people playing, but there are probably many in their 30s and 40s. I sometimes read in group chat something like "AFK 2 min kid crying" :)

Ive got the game on both Xbox One and PC. I have put alot more time into the Xbox One tho then PC. Although I have set up a new char on the PC and looked at all the mods and addons there is for the PC are some of them are so good. Skyshard location and minimap trackers, its all brilliant. But I will start on the PC version properly more then likely when One Tamerial releases.

Plus my other half is a PC gamer and im gonna get her into ESO, she never really played any of the ES series.

The Angry Joe Show did hurt TESO in the beginning, but after looking back these 2 years all that worry about the game dying was for naught. Also One Tamriel will bring a wave of new and returning players. You can copy that and paste after OCT. 5 :)

I also want to move from PS4 to PC eventually but the longer I spend on PS4 the more I stand to loose by starting over on PC. I already feel bad about how much time I spend playing as it is. It will be sad to have to do everything over again just to play on a different platform.

For me the game is demanding enough playing on just one platform & account and trying to get to a certain level of performance - having a master crafter, having multiple characters which I can run group content with (I won't throw my healer in dungeons at level 10 with 5 skills unlocked out of respect for other players), having a nice reserve of crafting materials and gold, having monster and other sets from dungeons available (they are all bound to account). Having multiple accounts and/or playing on multiple platforms and doubling the effort will break me. Getting to the level I am now was hard enough. I wouldn't have the patience to do it again.
