Having an "invite code" to send out for trial accounts

Alright, hear me out before you tell me about the spam and gold seller potential.

This game has a cost to get in. Sure, you can get it from some super sketchy website dirt cheap, or buy it from a legit website at a reasonable costs.. but wouldn't a limited trial account be awesome?

This girl at my work (who's in accounting) had been telling me how her husband got her a WoW account and she's starting to REALLY like it. I'd love to be able to invite her to try out the game just for a few days to maybe kidnap her from those terrible graphics (IMO).

Also, I do youtube (no, not famous or big) but often I meet other youtubers who are interested in ESO but just aren't willing to make the jump. I'd love to be able to help them experience a small amount of the game!

What IF.... for every X months your accounts is "active" they give you a trial code worth like 1 week of time or something? I'm not sure if that's doable but I would think it should include folks who buy DLC's etc. and not just sub accounts. I know they could definitely track every X months you get 1 trial code to give away or something, not sure if they'd be able to define an "active" account though. Also, if it was limited to "active" accounts and only 1 code every 3-6-12 months or something, I find it hard to be abused?

Something like this may have made some sense when the game required a subscription to play but with the game now buy to play, giving out trial codes doesn't really work. Maybe if it were an ESO+ benefit that every 6-12 months the sub is active you get a code you can give to someone so they can try to the game for a week or a weekend with their progress saving so that if they decide to purchase the game they can continue playing but as a reward for people just because they play the game it seems a little silly.

Well I don't really mean it as a reward. More so that way it stops abuse of the system, giving codes out constantly for bot accounts etc. Trying to think of a way it could be beneficial for the type of reasons I mentioned, yet not abused.

Have they not had a trial since it went B2P? I thought they did, and yeah, pretty much you made an account and after the weekend you got cut off. if you bought the game you got to keep your character and progress and whatnot. @AzraelKrieg

I believe they have done trial weekends. I think they did one just after Imperial City launch. And I do think it would stop the abuse of giving game codes which is something streamers quite often do. Not speaking bad about streamers as I know you are one and I do know and watch a lot of you guys in the ESO streamer community but the giving out of paid codes does cause some issues. Trial codes though wouldn't be too much of a problem as the person using the code would have a limited amount of time to play the game and not be able to exploit it. But I still believe that the codes should given to people with a bit of loyalty to the game and would be a useful benefit to those that sub as we are lacking in incentives.

I wish we do have buddy trial like key we can share to people. :'( and to prevent abuse they can just disable trial account from using social menu at all

They could do this by having people who use the codes be limited in the same way that people playing during the free weekend were limited.
